Biochar loaded with bimetallic Fe/Mo (Fe/Mo-BC) was prepared as a cost-effective catalyst for the degradation of organic matter by activated peroxydisulfate, in which MoO2 used co-catalyst to enhance Fe2+/Fe3+ cycling. The tetracycline-degradation efficiency system reached 74.49 % within 10 min, and it showed high removal rates over wide pH range (3–9). Quenching experiments electron paramagnetic resonance analyses that 1O2, •OH, O2•-, SO4•− produced Fe/Mo-BC/PDS are involved tetracycline degradation, 1O2 •OH being dominant active substances. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis revealed Mo(IV) reduces Fe3+ Fe2+ oxidizes itself Mo(VI). In addition, Fe/Mo-BC remained stable could be recycled three times, indicating feasibility this practical applications. possible pathways TC were investigated LC-MS DFT calculations.
