In this work, a germanium ion-imprinted polymer (Ge-IIP) based on α-bromobutyric intercalation-modified hydrotalcite was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization and applied for the capture of ions from wastewater. particular, layered as skeleton support induced in situ Ge-IIPs to form graded pores, an interlayer also used initiator induce graft functional monomers 3-dihydroxypropyl-2-acrylate strong coordination cavities ions. Batch experiment results showed that could effectively at pH value 3, maximum adsorption capacity up 55.18 mg·g–1. The kinetics isotherms indicated consistent with pseudo-second-order kinetic model Freundlich isotherm model. distribution coefficient values Ge(IV) coexisting metal ion solution were high 25 231.36 mL·g–1, indicating significant selectivity. addition, good reusability, uptake rate still reach 98.45% after 5 cycles. Furthermore, density theory calculation efficient selective may be attributed exchange surface complexation between abundance o-hydroxyl groups Ge-IIP structure. excellent salt tolerance selectivity provide possibility its practical application recovery
