The development of next-generation sustainable energy storage devices is attracting a lot attention. This study explores the potential use lignin, biopolymer typically considered byproduct paper and pulp industry, as starting material for producing hydrogels through chemical crosslinking. resulting are then evaluated their efficacy precursors electrolyte electrode preparation in supercapacitor. Several concentrations lignin crosslinker were to determine optimal conditions hydrogel electrolytes. optimised exhibited excellent properties, including high swelling capacity, an interconnected macroporous morphology, structural integrity. carbonisation lyophilised produced lignin-derived carbon materials with tailored nanoporous honeycomb-like structures. integration chemically crosslinked electrolytes electrodes resulted supercapacitor superior electrochemical properties. all-lignin-based supercapacitors demonstrated capacitance 40.7 F/g at 0.5 A/g current density, capacity retention 60% higher densities. results this highlight promise lignin-based both creation environmentally sustainable, high-performance supercapacitors.
