Abstract Background The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index is now widely recognized as a marker of insulin resistance and has been linked to the development prognosis atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD) in numerous populations, particularly Eastern world. Although there are fewer reports from Western world, they sometimes contradictory, absence definitive data on relationship between raised TyG risk suggested opportunity testing this biochemical against well-established vascular such carotid intima media thickness (c-IMT). Methods Primary prevention patients were selected cohort individuals who underwent c-IMT measurement 1984 2018 at Dyslipidemia Center ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda Milan, Italy. was calculated Ln [fasting TG (mg/dL)×fasting glucose (mg/dL)/2]. Carotid ultrasonography performed using echographic measurements far walls left right common, internal carotids, bifurcations. Patients followed for up 20 years with periodic evaluation parameters. ASCVD events monitored through hospital records, where all regularly examined. Results analysis included 3108 mean age 54.9 ± 13.1 years. Although insulin resistance is the key pathophysiological mechanism, several surrogate biomarkers such as Homeostatic Model Assessment for Resistance (HOMA-IR), have been proposed. In recent years, research on triglyceride-glucose index useful marker identifying cardio-metabolic risk, particularly adults, rise. However, there paucity data role TyG children adolescents association with HOMA-IR DEXA (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry), especially North America. This study aimed to investigate whether triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and other clinical demographic parameters are associated with left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) following an acute coronary syndrome (ACS) event. retrospective cohort included patients hospitalized a diagnosis of ACS. The TyG was calculated using the formula: = ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting glucose (mg/dL)/2]. A total 2,135 were in (mean age: 57.49 ± 11.45 years, 78.64% male). Multivariable logistic regression revealed that mildly reduced or LVEF immigrant population (p 0.004), diabetes mellitus 0.017), previous artery disease (CAD) < 0.001), ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) 0.001) high (≥4.95) 0.001). Reduced (≤40%) independently status 0.031), CAD peripheral 0.038), renal diseases 0.011), STEMI (≥5.10) shows potential as independent risk factor for low after ACS.However, its relatively sensitivity specificity suggest it may have supportive role stratification. Further research is needed confirm utility reliable prognostic marker heart failure ACS patients.

Abstract Aim Explore the relationship between triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, along with its derivative indices, and prevalence of cataracts. Methods Data from 20,497 participants in 2005–2008 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) were compiled. A final total 4,499 individuals met eligibility criteria. Cataract presence was assessed through a self-reported history cataract surgery. The TyG index derivatives—TyG-waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), TyG-neutrophil-to-lymphocyte (NLR), TyG-monocyte-to-lymphocyte (MLR), TyG-log platelet-to-lymphocyte (lgPLR), systemic inflammation (lgSII), TyG-systemic response (SIRI)—were calculated. Statistical analyses included multivariable logistic regression, restricted cubic spline (RCS) curves for nonlinear relationships, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Results Higher indices significantly associated ( P < 0.001). Specifically, TyG-WHtR, TyG-NLR, TyG-lgPLR, TyG-lgSII, TyG-SIRI exhibited positive correlations prevalence, even after adjustment potential confounders (odds [OR] = 1.17; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.01, 1.37; 0.0403; 1.01; 1.00, 1.02; 0.0258; 1.08; 1.16; 0.0223; 1.03, 1.14; 0.001; 1.04; 0.0120). Furthermore, stratified analysis showed that 61–85 age group, TyG-lgPLR TyG-lgSII remained positively ([OR] 1.09; 0.024; 1.02, 1.13; 0.005). RCS revealed linear association these cataracts, no apparent threshold effect. ROC indicated TyG-MLR demonstrated highest predictive ability presence. Conclusion study results indicate TyG-related indicators cataracts middle-aged elderly individuals, suggesting markers may serve as practical biomarkers identifying high-risk individuals. Early detection management metabolic inflammatory factors could contribute to effective preventive strategies development population.
