Climate change related natural hazards cause significant suffering and economic damage. The aftermath of losing one's home leaves people facing difficult decisions. Resettling those affected by flood disasters remains a complex uncertain process. This study aims to shed light on the factors influencing decision choose post-flood public houses (PFPH) in flood-prone areas. Using stated preference (SP) survey conducted floodplains Southern Pakistan, this research analyzes impact policy variables conjunction with latent psychometric people's choices. A hybrid choice model (HCM) is developed assess influence two variables: risk perception place attachment. findings indicate that individuals higher are more inclined PFPH, whereas stronger attachment tend opt for rebuilding their at same location. Compensation PFPH was observed have positive while distance from village center, reflecting how far they would be relocated current had negative choosing PFPH. calculation willingness-to-accept measures confirmed every 1 KM increase respondents require additional compensation PKR 24,558.45 (approximately $87.28). Household preparedness is essential for resilience-building and disaster risk reduction. Limited studies have explored the correlations between place attachment, self-efficacy, preparedness, especially in east Asian cultural context. This study investigates mediating role of self-efficacy attachment based on data from 2018 Shandong General Social Survey (N = 2181) China. We categorized behaviors into three specific clusters: material, behavioral awareness preparedness. Multiple linear regressions Sobel Goodman tests were employed to estimate with control necessary confounding variables such as experience, socioeconomic demographic characteristics. The results demonstrate that both are correlated higher degrees overall all types plays a These findings highlight importance promoting advocacies outreach activities

Sea-level rise (SLR) threatens millions of people living in coastal areas through permanent inundation and other SLR-related hazards. Migration is one way for to adapt these changes, but presents an enormous policy challenge given the number affected. Knowledge about relationship between hazards migration therefore important allow anticipatory policymaking. In recent years, increasing empirical studies have investigated, using survey or census data, how including flooding, salinization, erosion together with non-environmental factors influence behavior. this article, we provide a systematic literature review work. Our findings indicate that flooding

Abstract The Chinese government has implemented measures to reduce poverty in the country. Specifically, Targeted Poverty Alleviation (2013–2020) policy is a set of unique, large-scale and precise control undertaken by China an effort eliminate absolute poverty. Deeply impoverished areas mountainous regions Southwest are also particularly prone geological disasters. A might risk from natural disasters this region changing human behaviour. However, it unclear how change under government’s measures. This paper uses power-law relations negative binomial regression analyse primary economic losses Yunnan Province between 2009 2017. results analysis show that relation level development disaster changed inverted-U shape U period. While direct falling, we find wealthy counties have not decreased significantly even be increasing. In areas, alleviation policies reducing vulnerability exposure, increasing resilience. On contrary, reduction promote concentration population wealth non-poor which turn lead increase Therefore, order consolidate achievements projects, needs pay attention transfer caused policy-driven transformation social

Abstract Governments globally are adapting to sea level rise through a range of interventions improve everyday lives communities at risk. One prominent response is planned relocation, where people and enabled move from localities exposed coastal erosion inundation as result rise. Managed retreat has significant social consequences including under-reported impacts on health, well-being identity. Here we adopt well-established measures document the outcomes relocation in Volta Delta region Ghana. Data bespoke survey for individuals (n = 505) relocated non-relocated demonstrate that negatively anxiety those when compared community equally but not moved. Individuals reported significantly lower levels overall wellbeing, higher anxiety, perceptions safety, members. These explained being related disruption connection, identities, feelings efficacy. Relocated members attachment local area home, community-based self-efficacy, The results address multiple with straightforwardly risk reduction.

Human species have colonized many different landscapes since their emergence on Earth, even the extreme ones, preferring with high biodiversity to look for resources. This led a strong connection between individuals and in which they live. For prone natural hazards leading disasters, attachment is an essential non-structural aspect that should be considered when discussing community resilience. Thus, develop efficient strategies improving resilience it mandatory understand how such can influence this process. Many scholars addressed role of case disasters; nevertheless, its still understudied. In paper, provide insightful overview studies address specific aspect, systematic literature review (SLR) using PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items Systematic reviews Meta-Analyses) methodology was carried out. Since concept has declined dimensions, SLR encompasses all these dimensions under broader place (PA). The highlights current recognizes substantial influencing disaster-prone communities, but there no consensus whether either entirely positive or negative. Given nuances landscape attachment, better understanding use disaster adaptation measures represents needed future direction field.
