Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4), with facile synthesis, unique structure, high stability, and low cost, has been the hotspot in field of photocatalysis. However, photocatalytic performance g-C3N4 is still unsatisfactory due to insufficient capture visible light, surface area, poor electronic conductivity, fast recombination photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Thus, different modification strategies have developed improve its performance. In this review, properties preparation methods are systematically introduced, various approaches, including morphology control, elemental doping, heterojunction construction, nanomaterials, discussed. Moreover, applications energy environmental sustainability summarized, such as hydrogen generation, CO2 reduction, degradation contaminants recent years. Finally, concluding remarks perspectives on challenges, suggestions for exploiting g-C3N4-based photocatalysts presented. This review will deepen understanding state art g-C3N4, fabrication, modification, application sustainability.

Abstract Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are one type of porous materials linked by covalent bonds. COFs exhibit many outstanding characteristics such as high porosity, chemical and thermal stability, large specific surface area, efficient electron transfer efficiency, the ability for predesigned structures. These exceptional advantages enable to remarkable performance in photocatalysis. Additionally, activity photocatalysts can be significantly upgraded ion doping formation heterojunctions. This paper summarizes latest research progress on COF‐based applied photocatalytic systems. Initially, typical structures preparation methods analyzed compared. Moreover, essential principles reactions over COFs‐based developments hydrogen production, CO 2 reduction, pollutants elimination, transformation, overall water splitting indicated. At last, outlook challenges photocatalysis discussed. review is intended permit instructive guidance use based future.

Currently, the synthesis of active photocatalysts for evolution hydrogen, including based on graphite-like carbon nitride, is an acute issue. In this review, a comprehensive analysis state-of-the-art studies graphic nitride as photocatalyst hydrogen production under visible light presented. various approaches to g-C3N4 reported in literature were considered, methods modifying and improving structural photocatalytic properties material. A thorough has shown that most commonly used are alterations textural characteristics by introducing templates, pore formers or pre-treatment method, doping with heteroatoms, modification metals, creation composite photocatalysts. Next, authors considered their own detailed study graphitic different pre-treatments respective demonstrate high efficiency stability hydrogen. Abstract Selective oxidation of biomass‐based molecules to high‐value chemicals in conjunction with hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is an innovative photocatalysis strategy. The key challenge design bifunctional photocatalysts suitable band structures, which can achieve highly efficient generation and hydrogen. Herein, NiS/Cd 0.6 Zn 0.4 S Schottky junction catalysts are constructed for sunlight‐driven catalytic vanillyl alcohol (VAL) selective towards vanillin (VN) coupling HER. At optimal conditions, the 8% photocatalyst achieves high activity VN production (3.75 mmol g −1 h ) HER (3.84 ). It also exhibits remarkable VAL conversion (66.9%), yield (52.1%), selectivity (77.8%). photocatalytic proceeds a carbon‐centered radical mechanism via cleavage α C–H bond. Experimental results theoretical calculations show that NiS metallic properties enhances electron transfer capability. Importantly, Ni‐S‐Cd “electron bridge” formed at interface further improves separation/transfer electrone/h + pairs furnishes active sites due its smaller |ΔG H* | value, thereby resulting remarkably activity. This work sheds new light on HER, pathway achieving efficiency.
