Abstract The effects of various amounts zirconium on the catalytic performance copper‐based catalysts for methanol steam reforming to produce hydrogen were investigated. correlation between catalyst structure and was analyzed using characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, BET, H 2 ‐TPR, XPS. results showed that Cu/Si modified with Zr had a larger specific surface area stronger interaction CuO, carrier, Zr, exhibiting better activity. Additionally, when content 5.6 wt%, higher Cu dispersion, lower CuO reduction temperature, accelerated electron transfer which conducive formation more active + species. conversion reached 100% at reaction temperature 270 °C molar ratio water alcohol 1.5, while CO selectivity only 0.74%.
