Abstract
A
finite
element
analysis
of
the
blast
resistance
star-shaped
honeycomb
(SSH)
core
sandwich
structure
was
carried
out
by
using
CONWEP
calculation
model,
with
maximum
deformation,
energy
absorption,
and
area
specific
absorption
as
indicators
explosion
resistance.
Based
on
method
verified
experimental
data,
influence
structural
parameters
each
part
SSH
panel
its
anti-explosion
performance
quantitatively
investigated.
The
results
show
that
increase
connecting
ligament
L
cell
wall
angle
θ
can
improve
panel;
deformation
capacity
decreases
three
thickness
coefficients
(cell
t
,
front
f
back
b
);
greater
TNT
equivalent,
panel,
dissipation;
use
panels
a
protective
in
protection
systems
significantly
reduces
deflection
enhances
compared
to
solid
equal
mass,
respectively.

The
crashworthiness
of
thin-walled
tubes
with
various
designs
under
axial
compression
has
been
extensively
investigated.
Despite
this,
the
parameters
that
govern
performance
and
can
be
applied
across
different
cross-sectional
topologies
have
not
hitherto
available.
In
this
paper,
twenty
types
shapes
(e.g.,
multi-celled,
bi-tubular,
hierarchical
square,
hexagonal
circular
tubes)
numerically
simulated
theoretically
analysed.
All
are
made
from
identical
material
possess
apparent
area,
height
mass.
Six
indicators
employed
to
characterise
tubes.
Two
novel
non-dimensional
indices,
geometric
complexity
index
(RG)
which
is
ratio
total
length
solid
segments
in
cross-section
a
tube
square
tube,
topological
(RT)
coefficient
expression
plastic
energy
dissipation
closely
related
numbers
wall
junctions
cross-section,
identified
for
first
time.
Both
indices
RG
RT
used
regression
analysis
results
reveal
tubes,
mean
crushing
force
(MCF),
specific
absorption
(SEA)
effectiveness
(EEA)
do
exclusively
vary
RG.
Instead,
MCF,
SEA
EEA
all
properly
fitted
by
linear
relations
single
parameter
ω,
simple
function
RT,
i.e.,
ω=RT/RG.
Increasing
magnitude
ω
ultimately
improves
including
enhanced
absorption,
efficiency,
while
reducing
fluctuation
during
process.
Of
studied,
edge-based
(EH_C)
highest
22.17
J/g,
133%,
60%
41%
larger
than
single-celled
respectively.
