using

PRISMA
framework
thematic
analysis
to
explore
applications,
impacts,
pedagogical
changes
associated
with

education.

that

Abstract
The
language
of
artificial
intelligence
(AI)
guidance
documents
in
higher
education
(HE)
institutions
reflects
broader
societal
dynamics
and
raises
important
questions
about
inclusivity
accessibility.
This
study
investigates
how
selective
(Russell
Group)
less
UK
universities
craft
their
student-facing
AI
documentation,
focusing
on
the
discourses
embedded
within
these
documents.
Using
critical
discourse
analysis
(CDA),
from
six
(three
top
intergenerational
mobility
rankings
three
highly
bottom)
are
analysed
to
explore
differences
language,
style,
content,
framing
agency
responsibility.
Findings
reveal
that
often
adopt
hierarchical,
authoritarian
emphasises
individual
student
accountability
for
proper
use
tools.
