Abstract Background Hepatic cancer endures a major health scourge as the consequence of high incidence > 1 million cases by 2025. Plant-based products are typically effective in ameliorating conditions. Pomegranate peel extract (PE) with its polyphenolic content has anticancer effects against different types cancer. Herein, we aimed to maximize PE chemotherapeutic efficacy loading it suitable delivery system overcome limitations PE, control release and achieve liver targeting. Method A nanoprecipitation procedure was adopted incorporate into biodegradable biocompatible natural polymeric zein (ZN)-based nanoparticles (NPs) (PE-ZN NPs). full factorial design (2 2 × 3 ) developed study formulation variables, namely pH dispersion, PE-to-ZN ratio surfactant concentration. Results The optimization revealed surfactant-free stable PE-ZN NPs formula small particle size 99.5 ± 6.43 nm, encapsulation efficiency % 99.31% 3.64 (w/w) controlled over 24 h. Conclusion Moreover, cytotoxicity optimum hepatic HepG2 cell lines assessed attained about 2.5-fold reduction inhibitory concentration (IC 50 values compared free affording promising green platform combat Graphical abstract

Polymer microparticles (MPs) are widely used to create long-acting injectable formulations due their ability enable sustained drug release. This feature can significantly benefit chronic disease management by reducing dosing frequency and improving patient adherence. To support the design development of polymer MPs, we have compiled a dataset on MPs formed from poly(lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA), most commonly in commercial MP products. dataset, derived literature, covers 321 vitro release studies involving 89 different drugs. It aims streamline future providing reference for current PLGA space supporting data-driven approaches such as machine learning. Published with open access, this encourages broad utilization expand range available formulations.
