In this study, waste polystyrene was modified and upgraded to prepare formylated polystyrene, the acetyl hydrazone (LT-HPA) synthesized by condensation with polymethyl-propionyl-hydrazine. It is proven that modification of adsorption material successful various characterization methods. subsequent pollutant removal pH, mass, concentration, contact time, salt ion interference were investigated. The optimal pH for Cu(II) sulfide 5 11, respectively, mass adsorbent 1 g/L. found maximum rate Cu (II) 231.51 mg/g. equilibrium time less than 40 min. This due good activity acyl hydrazide groups on skeleton through coordination. desulfurization amount in 60 min 370.21 mg/g, which mainly caused oxidation sulfides surface oxidizing groups. Isotherm kinetic studies show processes are consistent Langmuir model pseudo-second-order model. Thermodynamic parameters a spontaneous endothermic process. mechanism chemical adsorption, supplemented physical adsorption. After 10 regenerated adsorption/desorption cycles, rates remained above 85%, indicating polystyrenesulfonate acetylhydrazone materials have reusability. addition, has thermal stability, resistance, environmental friendliness. summary, application prospect copper(II) provides fresh way upgrading polystyrene.
