Nanoplastics (NPs) represent an escalating hazard to both humans and the ecosystem due their pervasive presence. This review delves into (i) widespread occurrence of NPs across different environmental matrices, including food; (ii) routes estimates for human exposure; (iii) mechanisms blood–brain barrier (BBB) crossing; (iv) implications health, with a specific focus on molecular features associated neurotoxicity neurodegenerative processes. Abstract Microplastics ( MPs) are generated from diverse categories of plastic debris disposed in open. Its entry into the terrestrial ecosystem could not only impact soil physico-chemical attributes but also endanger lives biotas including earthworms which play significant role decomposition organics and sustaining nutrient pool. There have been consistent efforts by various workers across globe to study MPs on environment exploring potential mitigation strategies minimize contamination levels. This review presents a bibliometric analysis scientific publications 2017 2023. The primary objective is discern trends among authors, institutions, countries contributing research MPs, particularly concerning their interaction with earthworms. reveals steady escalation number up 2022. VOS viewer software was utilized for data visualization cluster analysis, unveiling three clusters highlighting keyword groups associated "microplastics", "soil", "earthworms". Notably, "microplastics" "earthworm" emerged as prominent hotspots.
