Abstract This study indicates that superior performance of novel ternary deep eutectic solvents (DES) system, formulated from choline chloride (ChCl) mixture formic acid (Fa), pyruvic (Pa), and tartaric (Ta), exhibits remarkable efficacy in selective separation purification lignin biomass. The woody biomass Elm was pretreated with carboxylic-acid-based DES ChCl as hydrogen bond acceptor (HBA), Lac, Fa, Pa, Ta served donors (HBD) under the predetermined conditions. Benefitting efficient process, using optimized system (ChCl/Lac/Fa, 1:6:1, 6 h 120 °C), it showed yield purity obtained material 86.53 % 90.45 %, which more than results binary pretreatment process. In addition, recovered subjected to comprehensive structural characterization employing Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance techniques. found have a complete aromatic structure, consisted mainly β-β, β-O-4 bonds different contents. These findings confirm significant advantages new facile separated lignocellulosic matrix mild conditions, providing reference value for resources.
