The detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is a rapidly growing research area due to the importance VOCs in environmental pollution, human health assessment, food quality control, and homeland security. Optical sensing materials based on porphyrins are particularly appealing for detection, owing availability porphyrins, their exceptional optical binding properties, as well photo chemical stability. As technology continue advance, sensors involving these expected play an increasing role various applications. This article presents overview porphyrin-based developed use gaseous phase. First, films composed exclusively porphyrin molecules discussed, followed by obtained grafting or incorporation into inorganic polymer matrices. Considering interest multianalyte analysis with sensor arrays, special attention devoted this area.
