Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) has emerged as a promising dielectric material for protecting metallic substrates such copper and steel under ambient conditions. The layered structure of h-BN offers significant potential in preventing the oxidation corrosion these substrates. Due to their impermeability, nanosheets (BNNSs) do not form galvanic cell with underlying metals, enhancing effectiveness protective coatings. BNNSs are both thermally chemically stable, making them suitable coatings that protect against environmental degradation. Additionally, have demonstrated excellent fire resistance, hydrophobicity, resistance when applied wood, functioning binder-free, retardant coating remains effective up 900 °C air. This review focuses on anti-corrosion properties BNNSs, particularly substrates, discusses various methods application. article also future perspectives this field, including innovative concept wooden satellites designed short- long-term missions.

Abstract The aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) coatings enhance corrosion resistance metals as well evaluate their crucial toxicological impacts on both environment and human health. Organic are extensively applied in field protecting against corrosion. They preferred inhibitors due carbonyl hydroxyl group content, but they have drawbacks regarding brittleness, porosity, oxidation susceptibility. In review, we mainly focused synthesis, properties, applications hBN emphasized way improve alloys. Furthermore, our discussion demonstrated that nanosheet (BNNS) significantly resistance, hydrophobicity, crack mitigation properties. researchers achieved reduced coating porosity enhanced protection corrosive media by effectively dispersing BNNS organic resin.
