Purpose In this paper, we present a case study to explore both how end-of-life electric vehicle batteries (EVBs) might be remanufactured efficiently and the data sharing required support such remanufacturing. Specifically, paper explores blockchain technology can enhance transparency, traceability efficiency in lifecycle of EVBs. Design/methodology/approach The research employs methodology remanufacturing processes EVBs at Tesla, China. This approach is chosen for its effectiveness examining complex phenomena within their real contexts particularly suitable exploring interplay between industry practices. Findings Our findings suggest that implementing allows stakeholders manage regarding battery quality history. Although adoption faces challenges, suggests integrating could revolutionize process by ensuring more effective secure management across supply chain. Research limitations/implications study’s focus on Tesla China as unique limits generalizability, Tesla’s advanced China’s specific regulatory environment may not reflect conditions faced other EV manufacturers or different regions, necessitating adaptations broader applicability. Practical implications Based insights from participants leading manufacturer, proposes blockchain-based closed-loop chain (CLSC) monitor production, usage, reuse, real-time among key stakeholders. Originality/value highlights technology’s pivotal role enhancing traceability, security CLSCs. It enriches existing theoretical frameworks influences data-sharing mechanisms, addressing consumer trust issues proposing sustainable practices adopted industry.

The dynamics of carbon transfer and shifting consumer preferences toward low-carbon products significantly influence firms’ strategic choices accelerate their transition to greener practices. This study models a secondary supply chain involving supplier, high-carbon manufacturer, analyzing equilibrium outcomes for pricing profit under two power structures: one where the manufacturer holds greater influence, another both manufacturers have equal power. Numerical simulations are used examine how shape pricing, profitability, responses across chain. results show that with market raise prices offset cost carbon, while those more constrained by competition track in pricing. Low-carbon manufacturers, sensitive preferences, benefit from rising demand, gaining sales, need initially then gradually reduce them. Although increased transfers offer flexibility, they supplier costs products, limited effect on manufacturers.
