Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is a common complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), yet its impact on bone mineral density (BMD) remains unclear. This study combines cross-sectional and meta-analytic methods to comprehensively explore the relationship between DN osteoporosis in T2DM patients. The included 523 patients, classified into non-DN groups. BMD was measured using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), multivariate analysis identified osteoporosis-related factors. meta-analysis studies published from 1999 2021, comparing patients with without DN. results showed that while significant differences clinical characteristics biochemical indices (such as age, HbA1c, 25(OH) vitamin D levels) were observed groups, no association found after adjusting for covariates like body mass index blood pressure. Additionally, confirmed across skeletal sites, including lumbar spine, hip, femoral neck. These findings suggest may indirectly affect health through alterations metabolism formation markers), direct limited. study's limitations include design, which restricts causal inference, retrospective data collection, underscoring need prospective further elucidate mechanisms behind DN's effects health. highlight complex interplay factors influencing risk underscore importance multifactorial approach management this population.
