To promote sustainable rural development and digital transformation based on 2018 county-level indices microdata from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPSs), this study examines how environment impacts entrepreneurial behavior of households. The results were as follows: (1) optimization significantly increases possibilities for farmers, indicating that, higher index, easier it is farmers to start their own businesses. (2) As village construction progresses, hard environments household entrepreneurship decrease, while influence soft increases. (3) Mechanism analysis reveals that literacy facilitates farmers’ through environment. Farmers with stronger intentions participate in commercial activities information acquisition more actively utilize seek business opportunities make decisions.
