The ongoing advancements in synthetic biology, employing either "bottom-up" or "top-down" approaches to construct life, are generating significant interest. However, the broad application of these scientific practices remains fraught with ethical controversies. Thus, investigating intrinsic value associated life is crucial for determining whether and how should be constructed utilized. This study draws upon extends Ronald Sandler's theory value, analyzing subjective from perspectives ecocentrism, human culture, structural properties itself. It examines objective based on its natural purposes. Additionally, explores inherent worth three angles: subjectivity, relationships beings. We conclude that increases sequentially microorganisms plants, invertebrates, vertebrates, humans. All forms possess value. only above grade has worth; thus, humans have moral obligations towards them.

Abstract Background The Biology System Description Language (BiSDL) is an accessible, easy-to-use computational language for multicellular synthetic biology. It allows biologists to represent spatiality and multi-level cellular dynamics inherent designs, filling a gap in the state of art. Developed designing simulating spatial, biological systems, BiSDL integrates high-level conceptual design with detailed low-level modeling, fostering collaboration Design-Build-Test-Learn cycle. descriptions directly compile into Nets-Within-Nets (NWNs) models, offering unique approach spatial hierarchical modeling systems. Results BiSDL’s effectiveness showcased through three case studies on complex systems: bacterial consortium, morphogen system conjugative plasmid transfer process. These highlight proficiency representing interactions dynamics. facilitates compilation designs detailed, simulatable leveraging NWNs formalism.
