genus

,
often
mediated
through
human
management
for
selection
of
adaptive
or
desirable
traits.
A
recent
example
American
Beefalo
cattle
breed,
which
was
developed
1970s
and
defined
as
a
hybrid
between
bison
(
Bison
)
taurus
).
The
Association
typically
require
⅜
ancestry
to
qualify
Beefalo.
Here,
we
sought
characterize
admixed
component
larger
project
understand
role
hybridization
shaping
present-day
diversity
cattle.
We
generated
genomic
data
from
50
historical
hybrids,
including
several
important
founding
animals,
well

originating
commercial
herds
that
represent
potential
sources
found
most

not
contain
detectable
ancestry.

individual

our
set
satisfies
requirements

by

although
had
smaller
proportions
(2-18%).

may

similarity

backcrossing

species

than
breeding
hybrids

Abstract
Cytonuclear
interaction
refers
to
the
complex
and
ongoing
process
of
coevolution
between
nuclear
organelle
genomes,
which
are
responsible
for
cellular
respiration,
photosynthesis,

dispersal

Abstract
Environmental
adaptation
traits
of
indigenous
African
cattle
are
increasingly
being
investigated
to
respond
the
need
for
sustainable
livestock
production
in
context
unpredictable
climatic
changes.
Several
studies
have
highlighted
genomic
regions
under
positive
selection
probably
associated
with
environmental
challenges
(e.g.

Abstract
Maternal
diversity
based
on
a
sub-region
of
mitochondrial
genome
or
variants
were
commonly
used
to
understand
past
demographic
events
in
livestock.
