The construction industry is constantly seeking sustainable alternatives to traditional materials due growing environmental concerns and resource depletion. This study explores the potential of using Jhama Brick Dust (JBD) as a substitute for fine aggregate in concrete. bricks, which are over-burnt often considered waste, were processed into dust incorporated concrete mixes at varying percentages (0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%) partially replace natural sand. tested their workability, compressive strength, tensile durability. Results showed that containing 20% JBD replacement exhibited strength increase 8% compared control mix. also improved by 5% same level. However, higher replacements 30% 40% decline both workability. Durability tests revealed with had better resistance water penetration, making suitable applications requiring enhanced research indicates can serve sustainable, cost-effective material production, offering cost savings broader applicability within its performance availability. Incorporating partial contributes practices while maintaining satisfactory mechanical properties.

Bamboo is known for its ability to grow at a high speed, with strong sustainability indicators and remarkable strength properties. However, despite these qualities, the practice of designing bamboo structures still in early stages many regions. This paper aims review current approaches structural analysis design as found existing literature. Through this comprehensive review, study seeks identify research gaps areas that require further exploration. The limited philosophy can be attributed scarcity studies on characteristics mechanics material. These findings highlight necessity more guidelines standards enhance structures. identifies following areas: lack consideration fiber distribution, load parameters specific structures, inadequate coverage culm connections, connection stiffness, scope types, species-specific limitations standards.

Concretes have been the favoured material to make concrete railway sleepers due better accessibility and weather compared their timber counterparts. Railway are crucial infrastructure 5% of fail prematurely. Sleeper failure could result in catastrophic accidents. Hence, improvement is needed sleeper mixes. Previous literature has identified two methods improving strength mixes with wastes, through replacement constituents or use alkali-activated materials. Use wastes as partial replacements reduces volume materials while forms a concrete-like compound that eliminates cement. These improve performance sustainability aspects concrete. While many studies conducted on these types sustainable concrete, application not investigated. Thus, this paper looks review different concretes some previous its well those yet be studied. Ultimately, identifying best for sleepers.

Abstract Concrete is vital for constructing infrastructure and housing, cement the key binding material within concrete. an enabler of development, as concrete structures are to delivering societal services in many sectors. Much recent research on has focussed technical solutions decarbonisation; however, there a knowledge gap around how intersect with other facets sustainable development. This study explores intersection inequalities, both through their production commodities use built assets. An exploratory analysis this issue was carried out, comprising evaluation industry associations’ conceptions development underlying power dynamics several inequality issues using Lukes’ three dimensional framework power, reflection certain inequalities may pose risks achieving decarbonisation aims. Our shows that narratives generally lack detailed vision addressing comparison focus decarbonisation. We find systemic concrete, spanning intra- inter-national scales, all dimensions power. These findings highlight consequential from structural, whilst specific sectors themselves. The recommended develop conception relation development: can help reduce own workforces more effectively, also missing targets. The effects of steel, polyvinyl alcohol, polypropylene and glass fibre reinforcements on alkali-activated concrete (AAC) were investigated by conducting various mechanical strength tests. dosage was 0.1–0.3% volume AAC. Furthermore, the acidic exposure fibre-reinforced concretes (FRAACs) examined immersing samples in 10% v/v solutions hydrogen chloride, sulfuric acid or nitric for 28 days. It found that additions improved compressive flexural up to 13% 27%, respectively, while modulus elasticity significantly 52%. Acid attack tests AAC specimens demonstrated be highly detrimental chemical properties AACs. loss FRAAC after 50% less than plain glass-fibre-reinforced AACs resistant attack, whereas steel-fibre-reinforced had resistance. These findings further validated scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, which showed changes microstructure subjected environments. Overall, durability
