Ammonia, a reliable low-carbon alternative fuel with energy storage capabilities, has garnered increasing attention for its application of co-firing in coal-fired power plants as strategy to mitigate direct carbon emissions. Abstract Microbes are powerful upgraders, able to convert simple substrates nutritional metabolites at rates and yields surpassing those of higher organisms by a factor 2 10. A summary table highlights the superior efficiencies whole array microbes compared conventionally farmed animals insects, converting nitrogen organics food feed. Aiming most resource‐efficient class microbial proteins, deploying power open communities, coined here as ‘symbiotic microbiomes’ is promising. Such advancements offer promising perspectives, currently only 5%–25% cellulose recovered ruminant livestock systems. Our global society pivotal juncture, requiring shift towards systems that not embrace environmental economic sustainability but also uphold ethical standards.
