This article addresses the origins and purpose of communal music-making, including dance, its role in human sociality. It accords special significance to adapted nature vocalization, sensorimotor discrimination that allows prediction then generation musically relevant, coordinated simultaneous movements. Commencing with a historical survey development ideas about evolutionary importance music social behavior, this mini-review sets out define explore key issues involved an explanation. These include: acquisition control parameters required for vocal production (synchronization pitch, timbre, duration loudness); exchange transmission pitched utterances unison as well harmony; roles natural sexual selection shaping musical abilities; cooperative consequences bonding such interaction throughout life; behaviors across generations, between genes culture drives evolution complex behavior Homo sapiens . The concludes brief review current research deals contributory features field, especially neuroscience which continues provide important psychophysiological data reinforces long-held proposal has promoting cooperative, prosocial interactions leading health wellbeing over lifespan.

Background Music is a primary source of pleasure for humans. Nevertheless, there large interindividual variability in how individuals experience and derive from music music-related activities. With this study we propose validate the Italian version extended Barcelona Reward Questionnaire (eBMRQ), most in-depth comprehensive tool investigating diverse characterization individual sensitivity to music. In addition, aim investigate eBMRQ scores as function age, gender, musicianship across population. Methods For validation process eBMRQ, first conducted forward backward translation original English version. The new was then administered 1,012 participants who were fluent north south Italy through online surveys (age range 18–86 years old; M = 34.9, SD 16.9, females 74%). Unrestricted confirmatory analysis computed both six-factor single-factor models. effect on analyzed variance (ANOVA). Results quality assessment factor solution indicated that demonstrated acceptable reliability, making it valid assessing reward. All factors significantly correlated with each other, line previous adaptations BMRQ. Our findings indicate reported higher reward compared males, except Social subscale. Moreover, among musicians amateurs non-musicians, although trend did not emerge Sensory-motor Mood Regulation subscales. Also, overall musical negatively associated age. Conclusions results obtained suggest feasibility applying reliable field affective clinical research. Furthermore, significant associations have highlighted between scores, contribute emphasizing impact sensitivity.

SoundSignature is a music application that integrates custom OpenAI Assistant to analyze users' favorite songs. The system incorporates state-of-the-art Music Information Retrieval (MIR) Python packages combine extracted acoustic/musical features with the assistant's extensive knowledge of artists and bands. Capitalizing on this combined knowledge, leverages semantic audio principles from emerging Internet Sounds (IoS) ecosystem, integrating MIR AI provide users personalized insights into acoustic properties their music, akin musical preference personality report. Users can then interact chatbot explore deeper inquiries about analyses performed how they relate taste. This interactivity transforms application, acting not only as an informative resource familiar and/or songs, but also educational platform enables deepen understanding features, theory, commonly used in signal processing, behind music. Beyond general usability, several well-established open-source musician-specific tools, such chord recognition algorithm (CREMA), source separation (DEMUCS), audio-to-MIDI converter (basic-pitch). These allow without coding skills access advanced, processing algorithms simply by interacting (e.g., you give me stems song?). In paper, we highlight application's innovative potential, present findings pilot user study evaluates its efficacy usability.
