Rice husk vinegar, a byproduct of biomass pyrolysis, can be refined to increase its value and reduce harmful emissions. This study synthesized range HSiW solid acid catalysts supported by ZrO2 using impregnation investigated the esterification rice pyrolysis liquid rich in acetic acid. The catalytic experiment was performed on an extraction coupling reaction device enrich improve conversion. physicochemical characterization verified their improved performance with increased calcined temperature, as it amplifies Brønsted/Lewis ratio. Esterification results indicated that 30-HZ (300) catalyst underwent conversion 94.02%, at temperature 130 °C, alcohol-to-liquid ratio 0.5, dose 3 wt %, period 4 h. retained 91% fifth cycle. facilitated most short-chain organic acids esters, some oxidation n-butanol ketones, etherification n-butanol. These are beneficial for high-value transformation application vinegar future research pyrolytic liquids.

Biochar materials have garnered attention as potential catalysts for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation due to their cost-effectiveness, notable specific surface area, and advantageous structural properties. In this study, a suite of plantain-derived biochar (MBB-400, MBB-600, MBB-800), possessing well-defined pore structure substantial number uniformly distributed active sites (oxygen vacancy, OVs), was synthesized through facile calcination process at varying temperatures (400, 600, 800 °C). These were designed the PMS in degradation sulfamethoxazole (SMX). Experimental investigations revealed that OVs not only functioned enriched pollutants, enhancing opportunities free radicals (•OH/SO4•−) surface-bound (SBRs) attack but also served channels intramolecular charge transfer leaps. This role contributed reduction interfacial resistance, expediting electron rates with PMS, thereby accelerating decomposition pollutants. Capitalizing on these merits, MBB-800/PMS system displayed 61-fold enhancement conversion rate SMX compared inactivated MBB/PMS system. Furthermore, MBB-800 exhibited less cytotoxicity towards rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells. Hence, straightforward synthesis emerges promising catalyst vast sustainable efficient wastewater treatment environmental remediation.

Cotton-core/polypyrrole (PPy)-sheath fibers (cotton/PPy fibers) were synthesized by aqueous chemical oxidative seeded polymerization and utilized as precursors for nitrogen-containing carbon (NCC) tubes. Irradiation of the cotton/PPy with a near-infrared (NIR) laser heated them to approximately 300 °C due light-to-heat photothermal conversion PPy, cotton core was thermally decomposed vaporized. Scanning electron microscopy studies revealed formation tubes monodispersed diameters, elemental microanalysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy confirmed that PPy sheath converted into NCC.
