Abstract Background Recent neuroimaging studies have demonstrated that the heterogeneous antidepressant responsiveness in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) is associated diverse resting-state functional brain network (rsFBN) topology; however, only limited explored rsFBN using electroencephalography (EEG). In this study, we aimed to identify EEG-derived rsFBN-based biomarkers predict pharmacotherapeutic responsiveness. Methods The EEG signals were acquired for demography-matched three groups: 98 treatment-refractory MDD (trMDD), 269 those good-responding (grMDD), and 131 healthy controls (HCs). source-level was constructed 31 sources as nodes beta-band power envelope correlation (PEC) edges. degree centrality (DC) clustering coefficients (CCs) calculated various sparsity levels. Network-based statistic one-way analysis of variance models employed comparing PECs indices, respectively. multiple comparisons controlled by false discovery rate. Results Patients trMDD characterized altered dorsal attention salience network. Specifically, they exhibited hypoconnection between eye fields right parietal regions ( p = 0.0088), decreased DC supramarginal gyrus q 0.0057), CC reward circuit s < 0.05). On other hand, both groups shared increased but posterior cingulate cortex. Conclusions We confirmed topology more severely deteriorated trMDD, particularly attention-regulatory networks. Our findings suggested topologies could serve potential pathologically interpretable predicting

Previous studies have revealed the frontoparietal network (FPN) plays a key role in imaging pathophysiology of bipolar disorder (BD). However, homogeneity (NH) FPN among mania (BipM), remitted (rBD), and healthy controls (HCs) remains unknown. The present study aimed to explore whether NH within can be used as an biomarker differentiate BipM from rBD predict treatment efficacy for patients with BipM.Sixty-six BD (38 28 rBD) 60 HCs participated resting-state functional magnetic resonance neuropsychological tests. Independent component analysis were applied analyze data.Relative HCs, displayed increased left middle frontal gyrus (MFG), right inferior parietal lobule (IPL). Compared patients, reduced IPL. Furthermore, support vector machine results exhibited that values IPL could distinguish 69.70 %, 57.89 91.67 % accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, respectively, regression significant association between predicted actual symptomatic improvement based on reduction ratio Young` Mania Rating Scale total scores (r = 0.466, p < 0.01).The demonstrated distinct serve valuable neuroimaging capable differentiating rBD, MFG potential predictor early response BipM.

BACKGROUND Research has found that the amygdala plays a significant role in underlying pathology of major depressive disorder (MDD). However, few studies have explored machine learning-assisted diagnostic biomarkers based on functional connectivity (FC). AIM To investigate analysis neuroimaging as streamlined approach for diagnosis MDD adolescents. METHODS Forty-four adolescents diagnosed with and 43 healthy controls were enrolled study. Using resting-state magnetic resonance imaging, FC was compared between controls, bilateral serving seed point, followed by statistical results. The support vector (SVM) method then applied to classify connections various brain regions evaluate neurophysiological characteristics associated MDD. RESULTS Compared using region interest, patients showed significantly lower values left inferior temporal gyrus, calcarine, right lingual superior occipital gyrus. there an increase value Vermis-10. SVM revealed reduction gyrus could effectively differentiate from achieving accuracy 83.91%, sensitivity 79.55%, specificity 88.37%, area under curve 67.65%. CONCLUSION results abnormal effective biomarker distinguish controls.

BACKGROUND Currently, adolescent depression is one of the most significant public health concerns, markedly influencing emotional, cognitive, and social maturation. Despite advancements in distinguish neurobiological substrates underlying depression, intricate patterns disrupted brain network connectivity adolescents warrant further exploration. AIM To elucidate neural correlates by examining using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI). METHODS The study cohort comprised 74 depressed 59 healthy controls aged 12 to 17 years. Participants underwent rs-fMRI evaluate within across critical networks, including visual, default mode (DMN), dorsal attention, salience, somatomotor, frontoparietal control networks. RESULTS Analyses revealed pronounced disparities key circuits among with depression. results demonstrated existence hemispheric asymmetries characterized enhanced activity left visual network, which contrasted diminished right hemisphere. DMN facilitated increased prefrontal cortex reduced engagement hemisphere, implicating self-referential emotional processing mechanisms. Additionally, an overactive attention a hypoactive salience were identified, underscoring abnormalities attentional regulation CONCLUSION findings from this underscore distinct disruptions role specific markers for precise early diagnosis observed network-specific deviations complex architecture supporting development targeted therapeutic strategies.

Introduction The aim of the present research was to examine role affective information in functioning attentional networks individuals with high vs. low trait or state anxiety. Previous studies suggest that anxiety can influence processes, but impact information, such as alerting emotional stimuli, on these remains unclear. Methods We conducted a set experiments using negative neutral faces presented either alone together sound, within modified version Attention Network Test-Interactions (ANT-I). Additionally, data from previous similar groups and without manipulations alertness were analyzed for comparative insights (378 participants total). Results showed three main effects when signals introduced: (1) effect is increased, (2) interference (3) orienting decreased. These occurred regardless valence stimuli given trial. Importantly, presence some trials eliminated group differences regarding are usually found no presented. Specifically, larger commonly observed trait-anxiety seen those state-anxiety, disappeared included. Discussion findings significantly networks, particularly relation seems modulate biases associated anxiety, potentially neutralizing usual discussed framework attention.
