Telephone bereavement support is recommended in care policy and practice; however, little known about what constitutes best practice. To explore how practice telephone conceptualized by those who provide the service, 26 healthcare professionals working Australian hospitals, hospices, other palliative settings were interviewed. Thematic analysis was used to construct seven themes: A Valuable Service with Limited Resources, The First Call, Dance of Rapport, Space Share, Identifying Responding Risk, Maintaining Contact, Training Development Needs. Participants viewed as an effective accessible tool supporting individuals' processing adaptation loss; concerns remain regarding quality consistency provided. Greater resourcing required, providers' perspectives offer a foundation ensure service evidence-based, pragmatic, supported training.

Abstract In recent decades, there have been diverse reviews published on intervention program value for bereaved people. The variation and multiplicity of such makes it difficult to obtain an overview what is known about treatment effectiveness. this systematic umbrella review, we explore the current knowledge base psychotherapeutic bereavement efficacy. Thirty-three quantitative and/or meta-analyses between January 2001 October 2021 were included. Quality was assessed using Assessment Multiple Systematic Reviews criteria. Intervention efficacy determined by rating overall conclusions into three categories according strength evidence: positive-unconditional, positive-conditional, negative-no evidence. Our results indicate that interventions are generally helpful. Seven indicated positive-unconditional support interventions. Twenty-four found positive-conditional (i.e., some evidence value, but did not apply in all circumstances or constrained database weaknesses weak effects), only two support. Notably, limited poor review quality methodological concerns (e.g., lack randomized controlled trials follow-up studies). As such, call future empirical studies articles abide standards.
