Abstract Background Studies examining whether diet sugar intake increases the risk of depression have produced inconsistent results. Therefore, we investigated this relationship, using US’ National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database. Methods This cross-sectional study included 18,439 adults (aged ≥ 20 years) from NHANES (2011–2018). Depressive symptoms were assessed nine-item version Patient Questionnaire (PHQ-9). Covariates, including age, sex, race/ethnicity, poverty-income ratio, education, marital status, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease, alcohol intake, smoking physical activity, dietary energy adjusted in multivariate logistic regression models. Subgroup threshold saturation effect analyses performed. Results After adjusting for potential confounders, found that a 100 g/day increase correlated with 28% higher prevalence (odds ratio = 1.28, 95% confidence interval 1.17–1.40, P < 0.001). Conclusion Dietary is positively associated US adults.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between dietary intake of total flavonoids and their six subclasses risk atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) in adults, evaluate potential mediating effect inflammation this association. Cross-sectional data from 3841 individuals participating National Health Nutrition Examination Survey 2017–2018 were included analysis. Flavonoid was assessed using a 2-day recall method, ASCVD status determined by extracting relevant information medical condition questionnaire. To determine flavonoid risk, we employed logistic regression, subgroup, mediation, restricted cubic spline analyses. Intake flavan-3-ols, flavones, flavonols, negatively correlated with risk. Subgroup analysis revealed that association exhibits sex-specific differences, being more pronounced among women. The significant associations increased reduced observed smokers, non-alcohol consumers, physically inactive individuals, those hypertension. A nonlinear flavonoids, flavan-3-ols flavonols Additionally, high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), inflammatory markers ASCVD, found mediate Flavonoids demonstrated dose‒response reductions levels hs-CRP NLR. indicates inverse intake, particularly ASCVD. It highlights role CRP NLR relationship. Furthermore, emphasizes importance considering lifestyle factors sex when evaluating benefits flavonoids.

Isoflavones are naturally occurring plant compounds found in uniquely high amounts soybeans and foods made from this legume. These soybean constituents have been proposed to exert several health benefits as such they the subject of an enormous amount research. This research includes randomized controlled trials (RCTs) epidemiologic investigations. Although statistically significant associations between isoflavone intake a wide range outcomes identified cohorts involving low populations, we suggest that these unlikely causal basis because exposure is too for isoflavones physiological effects. In predominantly non-Asian, non-vegetarian highest category typically ≤3 mg/d, provided by approximately 30 ml (2 tablespoons) soymilk whole soybeans. comparison, mean upper categories observational studies populations ≥50 mg/d. RCTs, intervention doses 40 100 Health professionals advising patients clients about soy food need be aware limitations populations. Intake recommendations best based on results RCTs using clinically relevant whom habitual part diet.

Lead (Pb) is an environmentally widespread bone toxic pollutant, contributes to the development of osteoporosis. Butyric acid, mainly produced by fermentation indigestible dietary fiber gut microbiota, plays a pivotal role in maintenance homeostasis. However, effects butyric acids on Pb induced osteoporosis have not yet been elucidated. In this study, our results showed that exposure was negatively related abundance Pb-exposed population and mice. caused microbiota disorders, resulting decline acid-producing bacteria, such as Butyrivibrio_crossotus, Clostridium_sp._JN9, butyrate-producing enzymes through acetyl-CoA pathway. Moreover, from NHANES data suggested intake butyrate associated with reduced risk lead-burdened populations, particularly among men or participants aged 18–60 years. addition, supplementation mice chronic improved microarchitectures, repaired intestinal damage, upregulated proportion Treg cells. Taken together, these demonstrated disturbs gut-bone axis, which can be restored acid supplement. Our suggest possible therapeutic strategy for lead-induced toxicity.

Epidemiological studies investigating the association between flavonoid intake and bone mineral density (BMD) draw inconsistent conclusions. Our study aims to investigate BMD osteoporosis mediating role of composite dietary antioxidant index (CDAI) in their relationship using data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The assessed femur 10,225 individuals NHANES 2007–2010 2017–2018. Multivariable linear regression analyses were used detect adult Americans. Restricted cubic splines (RCS) examine nonlinear subclasses risk 20 years or older. We explored CDAI BMD. In fully adjusted multivariable analyses, compared with people first quartile, fourth quartile total have a higher at (0.013, 95% CI: 0.004, 0.022, P = 0.001), neck (0.010, 0.017, trochanter intertrochanter (0.012, 0.003, 0.020, 0.006). positive was present both sexes. Furthermore, we found that lower (OR 0.686, 0.528–0.890, 0.005). RCS inverse ≥ (Overall 0.015, 0.086). Moreover, partially mediates findings suggest is associated distinct associations different risk. More stronger evidence are needed explore causal health underlying mechanisms.
