ABSTRACT Extensive research has demonstrated the negative impact of food insecurity on mental health; however, mediating and moderating mechanisms underlying this relationship remain underexplored. Using data from 2022 National Health Interview Survey ( N = 25,703), study investigates whether sleep problems mediate between health outcomes—specifically depressive anxiety symptoms—and marital status moderates relationship. The findings indicate that partially effects symptoms. In addition, these outcomes is less severe among married individuals compared to their unmarried counterparts. However, does not moderate problems, nor outcomes. analysis conditional indirect reveals a more pronounced mediation effect individuals. These results suggest partial protective role marriage in underscore importance addressing particularly individuals, understanding interplay insecurity, health.
