We have exceeded the earth's carrying capacity to manage amount of nitrogen (N) waste being generated globally, which can devastating environmental consequences if immediate action is not taken. Our global food system a major N user and contributor waste. Pork most consumed animal-derived protein source in world, but like other producing animals, use efficiency converting dietary edible lean meat less than 50%. However, undigested excreted manure be recycled by using appropriate storage application methods crop land prevent further losses emissions environment. Therefore, feed manure, along with animal health mortality are main contributors pig production systems. Practical approaches reduce environment from must focused on fine-tuning amino acid concentrations match individual requirements, optimizing ingredient resource use, upcycling agri-industrial by-products sources loss waste, improving management, maintaining health.

Abstract Livestock farming and manure management contribute substantially to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in agriculture. Anaerobic digestion (AD) of is a promising strategy for mitigating these emissions. This study aimed assess the biomethane potential (BMP) various types pig slurry, investigate factors that influence production, analyze degradation kinetics, propose AD process optimization approaches. Thus, substrate analysis, BMP tests batch assays, kinetic modeling, principal component analysis (PCA) were conducted. In order further quantify effects different qualities full-scale operation, production was simulated under steady-state conditions. Results indicated piglet slurry had highest volatile solids (VS)–specific (203 ± 72 L kg −1 VS), followed by mixed (202 132 fattening (117 56 sow (86 17 VS). The PCA revealed significant roles VS, crude fat, fatty acids concentration, carbon/nitrogen ratio achieving high BMPs. First-order two-step modeling identified hydrolysis as rate-limiting step, showing determinant step < 0 each sample. simulation continuous operation notable differences daily (36.7–42.7 day ) between slurries at same hydraulic retention time BMP. research underscores variability characteristics, exemplified total range 1.4–12.1%, provides crucial insights optimizing processes livestock waste management.

The efficient resource utilization of livestock manure has received extensive attention worldwide at present, and the related technology been continuously improved, while potential for in terms fertilizer energy is not yet clear. In order to more accurately assess fertilizing energizing manure, this study took Liaoning Province, a large poultry farming province China, as an example. Based on statistical data field research, assessed based calculating amount resources Province 2023 by applying method excretion coefficients other methods. results show that (1) total was 104.41 × 106 t; (2) amounts organic matter (OM), nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) could be converted into were 18.86 10⁶ t, 2.03 3.05 2.26 respectively, which sufficient replace chemical application Province; (3) energization 3826.73 104 t standard coal or 1950.61 107 m3 biogas, respectively. can provide reference basis preliminary estimation China even world, great significance global reduction dependence fertilizers, optimization structure, maintenance ecological balance. This also help promote improvement policies achieve high efficiency manure.

Earthworm gut digestion plays a crucial role in reducing antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) during vermicomposting, offering significant potential for controlling ARG dissemination livestock manure. However, the impact of residual tetracycline antibiotics on this process remains poorly understood. Herein, study systematically evaluated three concentrations (0, 10, and 100 mg/kg) dynamics microbial community evolution 35-day vermicomposting cattle The results demonstrated that earthworm intestinal effectively eliminated over 96% initial load raw Noticeably, stress significantly enhanced total abundance casts (p < 0.05), with distinct response patterns observed among different types. Mechanistic analysis revealed potentially persistence through two pathways: (1) promoting horizontal transfer via mobile genetic elements, (2) altering succession influence host–microbe relationships. These discoveries contribute to our comprehension interference vermi-remediation processes provide insights optimizing mitigation strategies contaminated

Chicken manure is a raw material with potential value as fertilizer. The present work documented an 8-month continuous spontaneous fermentation process, referred to AFRODITE® (Aerobic Fermentation and Revaluation of Organic matrix Develop Improve Essence soil), where the main physical, chemical microbiological parameters have been investigated for two years within company FOMET S.p.A. pelletized final product reached in both stable pH (6.5-7.5), moisture (17.0-13.8%), total nitrogen (3.0-3.8%) C/N ratio (10.46-10.66); eubacteria population decreased (from 10 11 about 7 Log CFU/g), selection thermophilic/hyperthermophilic microbiota due high temperatures during process. commercial microbiologically safe rich bacteria that were isolated identified. dominant species belong Bacillus genus, which includes several Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria whose beneficial activities towards soil plant are widely known. A greenhouse experiment lettuce eggplants showed positive effect concentrations (2.5 5% w/w) combination mixture topsoil/river sand. In particular, 27% fresh weight increase was observed amounts whereas average production three times higher using compared untreated control. This has highlighted chicken followed by pelletization allows obtainment product, nutritional elements, possessing growth-promoting effects on horticultural plants. process represents virtuous example circular economy.
