This study investigated the electrocoagulation (EC) treatment of tannery wastewater using plane and punched aluminum iron electrodes at optimum condition pH 9, voltage 20 V, electrode distance 1 cm 90 min electrolysis duration. The efficiency EC process was determined by evaluating levels biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical (COD), Chromium (Cr) in treated effluents. experiment utilized both linear regression Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models for modeling, with ANN model validating predicted from experimental design 95 % confidence. use resulted an removal BOD (89.66 %), COD (96.21 Cr (96.05 TDS (95.77 %). On other hand, achieved a 90.86 98.62 96.94 (Cr), 96.92 (TDS). Similarly, when electrodes, BOD, COD, 87.57 %, 94.77 93.42 93.08 respectively, while removed 89.01 96.59 94.66 TDS. results demonstrate that proposed effectively predicts effluent TDS, addressing economic environmental sustainability concerns.

Urban crime prevention remains a critical challenge intertwined with socioeconomic disparities. This study investigates the spatial nexus between urban deprivation and decline in Chicago from 2015 to 2022, addressing question: How do changes neighborhood relate reduction patterns? Using comprehensive incident census tract Area Deprivation Index (ADI) data, this conducted exploratory analysis, regression modeling, local bivariate relationship analysis. The findings reveal persistent hotspots of concentrated on Chicago’s south west sides, alongside general citywide decline. However, current research uncovered significant heterogeneity both patterns reduction, challenging achievement equitable public safety outcomes. Surprisingly, while incidents 2022 significantly predicted change, ADI scores were not statistically predictors our model. Local analysis exposed diverse relationships rate across neighborhoods, 72.2% tracts showing no relationship. underscores complexity dynamics importance context understanding these patterns. Our contributes nuanced intricate patterns, providing valuable insights for policymakers, law enforcement agencies, planners. These highlight need integrated, long-term strategies that address disparities, ultimately fostering safer, more environments informing evidence-based interventions tailored specific contexts.

Street view imagery (SVI), an emerging geospatial dataset, is useful for evaluating active transportation infrastructure, but it faces potential biases from its vehicle-based capture method, diverging pedestrians' and cyclists' perspectives. Existing literature lacks both examination of these a solution. This study identifies quantifies by comparing conventional SVI with views the road shoulder/sidewalk. To mitigate such perspective biases, we introduce novel framework generative adversarial network (GAN)-based image generation models (Pix2Pix CycleGAN), regression model (ResNet-50), tabular (LightGBM). Experiments assessed effectiveness in translating car-centric to those pedestrian cyclist Results show significant differences semantic indicators (e.g. green index) between center shoulder/sidewalk SVI, low Pearson's correlation coefficients r (0.35–0.55 shoulders 0.45–0.47 sidewalks) indicating bias. The succeeded creating realistic images aligning pixel ratios perspectives, achieving strong (0.81 0.83 sidewalks), thus reducing work contributes providing scalable model-agnostic approach produce accurate SVIs urban planning sustainability, setting foundation improving bikeability walkability assessments promoting transportation.

Climate-induced hydrological risks and deteriorating infrastructure present major challenges for small river basins in border regions, particularly non-EU countries with limited institutional capacity funding. These issues are especially acute post-socialist contexts, where outdated hydrotechnical systems no longer meet current environmental safety standards. This study investigates the vulnerabilities of Uzh River basin Uzhhorod, Ukraine—a city strong ecological ties to neighboring EU regions—and proposes an adaptive management model tailored such environments. An integrated assessment flood protection systems, sediment transport, drainage performance, governance gaps was conducted inform proposed framework, which combines structural ecosystem-based interventions a focus on transboundary water governance. Unlike many existing approaches that lack mechanisms localized implementation cross-border coordination, this offers transferable, evidence-based methodology enhancing resilience sustainability similar urban areas. The insights relevant cities across Eastern Europe, Western Balkans, South Caucasus, contributing both engineering practice regional policy by aligning solutions cooperative climate adaptation strategies.

Machine learning models are the backbone of smart grid optimization, but their effectiveness hinges on access to vast amounts training data. However, grids face critical communication bottlenecks due ever-increasing volume data from distributed sensors. This paper introduces a novel approach leveraging Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), specifically type pre-trained Foundadtion Model (FM) architecture suitable for time series its efficiency and privacy-preserving properties. These GenAI agents, or holders, empowering them fine-tune foundation model with local datasets. By fine-tuning model, updated can produce synthetic that mirrors real-world conditions. The server aggregates fine-tuned all agents then generates which considers collected in grid. be used train global machine specific tasks like anomaly detection energy optimization. Then, trained task leverage them. highlights advantages communication, including reduced burden, enhanced privacy through anonymized transmission, improved scalability. enabling intelligent architecture, way more secure, efficient, sustainable future.

Buildings play a significant role in the rise of energy consumption and carbon emissions. Building operations are responsible for 28% world’s It is crucial, therefore, to evaluate environmental impact various buildings’ operational phase order implement sustainable strategies mitigation their usage associated footprint. While numerous studies have been conducted determine footprint conventional building operation phases, there still lack actual data on (OC) emissions mass timber buildings. There also research pertaining buildings within larger campuses inherent usage. This study, aims quantify empirical building, using, as case recent Adohi Hall situated at University Arkansas, Fayetteville. The study examine identify best use scenarios campus under consideration. team obtained Hall’s consumption, fuel input usage, other utilities (such water, electricity, chilled natural gas) accounting from 2021 2023, span three years.
