This research investigates the relation between climate anxiety, threat perceptions for future generations, and childbearing motivations in childless emerging adults. Using a sample of 1211 Swiss college students aged 18–25, study explores if mediate relationship anxiety motivations. Results from structural equation modeling (SEM) indicated that significantly predicted greater threat, which turn related to less positive more negative Specifically, was partly fully explained by perceptions, suggesting worries about environment could be an important factor adults’ complex reproductive considerations. No gender moderation found. These findings underscore need policy interventions provide psychological support targeted educational resources assist young adults navigating interplay their decisions regarding childbearing.

The adverse impacts of climate change on mental health is a burgeoning area, although findings are inconsistent. emerging concept eco-anxiety represents distress in relation to and may be related health. aim this study was explore the relationship between with validated outcomes, specifically psychological symptoms major affective disorders. Systematic review. EBSCO, ProQuest, Web Science databases were searched February 2024 for studies adult samples quantifying (exposure, i.e. fear, worry or anxiety change) disorders (outcomes), as assessed by measures. Full text review 83 performed, k = 35 included (N 45 667, 61% female, Mage 31.2 years). Consistently, showed small large positive correlations outcomes distress, depression symptoms, stress symptoms. However, results regarding post-traumatic disorder pathological mixed. Stronger associations observed where operationalised 'anxiety' rather than 'worry'. Findings underscore that burden. Greater consideration assessment treatment needed clinical practice further policy development warranted at intersection address challenges posed change.

Background While the constitutive features of problematic social media use (PSMU) have been formulated, there has a lack studies in field examining structure relationships among PSMU components. Method This study employed network analytic methods to investigate connectivity components large sample 1,136 college student users ( M age = 19.69, SD 1.60). Components were assessed by Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS) derived from model addiction. We computed two types models, Gaussian graphical models (GGMs) examine and influential nodes directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) identify probabilistic dependencies Result Relapse component consistently emerged as central node GGMs parent other DAGs. tolerance exhibited strong mutual connections linked most vital edges within networks. Additionally, conflict mood modification occupied more positions for low-BSMAS-score subgroup compared with high-BSMAS-score subgroup. Conclusion Our findings shed new light on complex architecture its potential implications tailored interventions relieve PSMU.

ABSTRACT This study investigates the complex relationships among myths of romantic love, satisfaction, jealousy, infidelity, and involvement in using both undirected directed network analyses. A Gaussian Graphical Model a Directed Acyclic Graph were employed to explore these interconnections sample young Peruvian individuals ( n = 386). Results indicate that satisfaction emerges as key starting point network, influencing involvement, jealousy. Satisfaction are central nodes shaping overall relationship dynamics. The also reveals unrealistic beliefs about love idealized expectations associated with negative interactions lower which turn relates higher infidelity These findings suggest strengthening may play crucial role mitigating interaction patterns fostering healthier relationships.

Abstract Quality of life (QoL) in cardiac surgery patients is increasingly recognized as a critical outcome, influenced by biopsychosocial variables. This study aims to explore the associations between preoperative QoL and various psychological biomedical variables undergoing surgery. The includes cross-sectional baseline data from 204 two distinct samples: Data collection for PSY-HEART I trial (coronary artery bypass grafting) was conducted 2011 2015, while ValvEx (valvular surgery) were collected 2020 2022. We assessed variables, such illness beliefs expectations, alongside including body mass index, EuroSCORE II, C-reactive protein levels. analysis involved partial correlation Gaussian Graphical Models (GGM) Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs) identify key nodes pathways affecting QoL. resulting GGM estimated be rather sparse (38 136 possible edges present) case-drop bootstrap node stability estimates ranged sufficient (CS-Coefficient Bridge Expected Influence = 0.28) good 0.51). Our analyses revealed strong QoL, with current expected illness-related disability being central network. Medical showed weaker connections DAG indicated that suggesting expectations may crucial postoperative outcomes. underscores importance particularly perceptions determining patients. Introduction Climate change is one of the most consequential challenges in 21st century with widespread consequences, including its effect on mental health. A recently developed questionnaire distinguishes between affective responses to climate change, negative emotions (distress), and functional impairments. Adolescents are considered particularly vulnerable but have not yet been studied concerning these dimensions. This study investigates prevalence distribution distress impairment their association sociodemographic factors health literacy a representative sample adolescents living Germany. Materials methods In cross-sectional quota-based survey, N = 1,021 (inclusion criteria: age 12–17 years, enrollment school, Germany, sufficient German knowledge) completed an online or face-to-face interview assessing scales (CC-DIS), information (HLS-EU-Q16). ANOVAs t -tests were used analyze differences groups different levels literacy. Results The results show that many both distressed impaired by change. Higher was found girls vs. boys, those high low education social status lower status. 14–15-year-olds 12–13-year-olds 16–17-year-olds, education, inadequate problematic adequate Discussion Further research needed explore underlying mechanisms develop effective strategies support adolescent face

Abstract As climate change increasingly impacts global health, the psychological ramifications are becoming a significant concern, especially phenomenon known as eco‐anxiety. This anxiety stems from chronic fear of environmental doom and affects growing number individuals, profoundly impacting both personal collective well‐being. Notably, children adolescents particularly vulnerable to mental health effects events, showing heightened symptoms stress, depression, anxiety. Eco‐anxiety, while sharing similarities with general disorders in terms neural mechanisms, also exhibits unique characteristics that underscore its distinction. Research on neurobiological underpinnings eco‐anxiety reveals structures within brain's salience network, such midcingulate cortex insula, crucial detecting responding threats. These areas show altered structure function individuals experiencing high levels anxiety, correlating increased engagement pro‐environmental behaviors. Understanding these pathways is essential for developing targeted interventions not only mitigate distress but enhance resilience. Employing neuroscience‐based strategies, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, neurofeedback, may offer effective tools managing eco‐anxiety, ultimately empowering populations confront challenges renewed vigor sense control.

ABSTRACT This study explores the complex and often overlooked connection between climate change mental health, specifically examining how this relationship manifests across different income groups (high, middle, low) from 1990 to 2020. A fixed‐effects model is used analyze impact of two key indicators—annual surface temperature changes (TEMP) greenhouse gas emissions—on a range health outcomes, including disorders (MD), anxiety (AD), depressive (DD), bipolar disorder (BD), schizophrenia (S). The findings reveal statistically significant association rising temperatures, increased emissions, declining outcomes. While negative effects on well‐being are observed all countries, disproportionate impacts groups, suggesting that some populations significantly more vulnerable than others. underscores urgency implementing comprehensive equitable measures mitigate protect globally.
