Purpose The goal of this study is to identify and validate some selected determinants early-stage entrepreneurial activity (ESEA) by assessing the impact knowledge skills (EK&S), fear failure (FoF), social status entrepreneurs (SSE) intentions (EI) on ESEA. Design/methodology/approach utilised cross-sectional data gathered Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) team from 49 countries, with a total 162,077 respondents. analyses involved correlation, simple regression path analyses, specific focus testing for mediated moderated effects. To complement statistical fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis was also employed. Findings revealed EK&S as primary drivers EI Also, effects FoF EI, inclusion improved model significantly. result showed that presence EK&S, SSE were sufficient but not necessary conditions Practical implications tested demonstrates importance well need mitigate factor in promoting activity. As such, support programmes seems justifiable. Originality/value findings provide deeper insight into intricate relationships underlie utilising combination techniques.

While the cases of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that succeeded in research development (R&D) have been relatively well known studied, there has not sufficient on R&D failure consequent costs. Based upon resource-based view, we hypothesized commercialization SME's would be more severe for smaller firms lacking resources dynamic capabilities, leading to early business closure. We analyzed 2,038 formal projects implemented by South Korean SMEs with support a public subsidy program. found if an SME project failed commercialize outcomes R&D, probability closure within 5 years after completion is 72% higher than it succeeded. also increases risk closure, particularly firms, due significant slowdown sales growth. Abstract Entrepreneurs who have recovered from failure and reentered entrepreneurial activities account for almost half of all entrepreneurs. However, extant research drawing on a human capital perspective has provided mixed evidence regarding whether failed entrepreneurs subsequently choose reentry or seek paid employment. This research explores the complex mechanism leading to a subsequent entrepreneurship career choice (SECC), whether perceived as failure or not. It mobilizes theory of hope (via role optimism and grit) components planned behavior (attitude, subjective norms, self-efficacy). The study involved 48 previous entrepreneurs not currently in reentry process. A fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis was used. High failure rate is a primary characteristic of current farmer entrepreneurial activities in China. We examined the impact on health Chinese farmers based data from China Labor-force Dynamics Survey (CLDS). found that significantly depresses farmers. Specifically, with experience are more likely to have low self-reported levels psychological and physical health, probability experiencing severe injury illness elevated by 4.6 %.
