Electrocatalytic reduction of NO to NH3 (NORR) emerges as a promising route for achieving harmful treatment and sustainable generation. In this work, we first report that Mo2C is an active selective NORR catalyst. The developed nanosheets deliver high yield rate 122.7 μmol h-1 cm-2 with Faradaic efficiency 86.3% at -0.4 V. Theoretical computations unveil the surface-terminated Mo atoms on can effectively activate NO, promote protonation energetics, suppress proton adsorption, resulting in activity selectivity Mo2C.

Abstract The electrochemical nitrite reduction reaction provides an alternative approach to offer sustainable ammonia source routes for repairing imbalances in the global nitrogen cycle. In this work, electrocatalysis is combined with enzymatic catalysis provide efficient and clean process recoverable production. NO 2 − reduced NH 3 by electroenzymatic cascade on a bioconjugate, which 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium bromide (IL BMB ) modified chloroperoxidase (CPO) fixed polyethyleneimine (PEI) multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) from bioconjugate (CPO‐IL /MWCNT‐PEI). 15 N 14 isotope labeling reveal that species derived reduction. Density functional theory calculations identify Fe II heme center of CPO serve as key active site amino groups MWCNT‐PEI not only bridge covalently immobilize but also enrich ion at electrode/solution interface through electrostatic interactions. low energy barrier adsorption free intermediate result high Faradaic efficiency (96.4%), yield (112.7 mg h −1 ), selectivity pH 5.0 solution. highly ensurespromising applications conversion .
