The impact of the pandemic caused by COVID-19 on urban pollution in our cities is a proven fact, although its mechanisms are not known great detail. change mobility patterns due to restrictions imposed population during lockdown phenomenon that can be parameterized and studied from perspective spatial analysis. This study proposes an analysis guiding parameters these changes To do so, case city Cartagena, medium-sized Spain, has been analyzed throughout period COVID-19. By means geostatistical analysis, modal distribution transport have correlated with evolution environmental air quality indicators city. results show despite positive effect beginnings mobility, generated behavior current users favor most polluting modes travel cities.

In the face of rapid urbanization, understanding and managing changes in Land Use Cover (LULC) is crucial for sustainability resilience urban ecosystems. Rapid growth resulting from LULC, can lead to fragmentation degradation Ecosystem Services (ES), including habitat provision, water regulation, air purification. This study investigates LULC Dhaka City, Bangladesh, 2010 2021 forecasts their future impacts on ES 2030 2040. Landsat images were processed using Google Earth Engine platform, a cellular automata technique was integrated with an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) mapping prediction. Results showed increase built-up areas 31% 42% between 2021, projected decrease 34% 32% 2040, respectively. Water bodies, vegetation, agricultural land declined but are expected trend indicates growing awareness need sustainable environment ecosystem development. The value predicted drop $172.66 $160.23 over thirty years (2010–2040), primarily due bodies ($7.64) ($6.89). However, by 2040 suggests potential recovery enhancement these values through practices. Future use policies should promote agriculture resource management while fostering against growth. approach will ensure development informs strategies supporting natural management, quality decisions, planning. It underscores importance integrating into benefit both city's inhabitants.

As of 2023, Bangladesh stands as the seventh most populous nation globally, confronting challenges arising from limited resources and rapid urbanization. The emergence COVID-19 pandemic has led to unprecedented disruptions on a global scale, necessitating detailed examination its effects, particularly within urban environments. This study meticulously scrutinizes repercussions environment, focusing specifically Dhaka City. In this comprehensive exposition, we explore multifaceted impact outbreak, spanning environmental non-environmental aspects like water quality, air municipal waste management, noise pollution. We analyze data across distinct timeframes, employing Indicators, Impact, Strategy (IIS) framework for improvement sustainability. reveals substantial shifts in poised exert profound influence city’s inhabitants overall ecology. Notably, findings indicate marked attributed partly reduced industrial activity diminished vehicular emissions during lockdowns. However, management faced significant challenges, resulting deterioration disposal system. Of particular concern was medical due increased generation pandemic. concludes by proposing robust policy addressing key concerns, including health, pollution control. These recommendations aim bolster sustainable progress unique exigencies era. grapples with pandemic’s aftermath, research offers valuable insights roadmap ensuring more resilient environmentally future

Nontarget mass spectrometry has great potential to reveal patterns of water contamination globally through community science, but few studies are conducted in low-income countries, nor with open-source workflows, and datasets FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable). Water was collected from urban rural rivers around Dhaka, Bangladesh, analyzed by liquid chromatography high-resolution four ionization modes (electrospray ±, atmospheric pressure chemical ±) data-independent MS2 acquisition. The scarcity of freshwater in most the megacities world is an important concern. In this regard, scientifically harvested rainwater could provide effective measure to crisis. attempt, we developed a cost-effective sensor-based automated first-flush harvesting system (RHS) improve and economic development like Dhaka, Bangladesh. To investigate performance system, suit representative samples was systematically collected, preserved, assessed between months July-December 2021 for water quality parameters such as physicochemical (pH, EC, TDS, DO, hardness, alkalinity), anions (F-, Cl-, NO2-, NO3-, Br-, SO42-), elemental (Ca, Mg, Cr, As, Cd, Hg, Pb, Be, Ni, Se, Fe), microbial contamination analysis. A Multiparameter digital meter titrimetric method were employed measuring properties whereas concentration detected using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer atomic absorption spectrometer. changes preserved investigated from time during whole experimental period. findings showed that mean pH (6.90) concentrations (mg/L) other concerning TDS (15.5), DO (7.26), hardness (14.9), Cl- (3.59), NO3- (4.84), SO42- (4.62), Fe (<0.2), Cr (0.086 μg/L), As (0.224 Cd (0.260 Hg (0.270 Pb (5.530 μg/L) below WHO drinking guidelines literature data implying derived RHS completely safe uses even respect (total bacterial counts: 0-15 CFU/mL, total fecal coliform less than 1.8 MPN/100 mL) long storage. The magnetic Fe3O4-HKUST-1 nanocomposites were synthesized using a simple and green hydrothermal technique, utilizing Fe3O4 the chemically stable metal–organic framework HKUST-1. with varied proportion of subjected to advanced characterization, which included XRD, IR, BET, TG, SEM, TEM, EDS, VSM. nanocomposite 0.4 (FH4) had rough surface spherical morphology good micro mesopores. mean pore size 2.58 nm, volume 0.35 cm3/g, having excellent saturation performance (26.39 emu/g). adsorption isotherm kinetics on azo dye neutral red (NR) wastewater assessed in detail. In contrast Freundlich model, Langmuir model better described isotherms, while pseudo-second-order kinetic captured kinetics. FH4 was most effective adsorbent highest capacity for NR separation.
