Introduction Petroleum pollution resulting from spills and leakages in oil refinery areas has been a significant environmental concern for decades. Despite this, the effects of petroleum pollutants on soil microbial communities their potential pollutant biodegradation still required further investigation. Methods In this study, we collected 75 samples 0 to 5 m depths 15 profiles an abandoned analyze effect diversity, community structure, network co-occurrence patterns. Results Our results suggested a-diversity decreased under high C10–C40 levels, coupled with changes structure profiles. However, complexity increased suggesting more complex interactions. A module specific methane methyl oxidation was also found levels profile, indicating stronger methanotrophic methylotrophic metabolic activities at heavily polluted profile. Discussion The observed may be due pathways processes, as well interactions during these processes. These findings highlight importance considering both diversity assessing ecosystems.

Ammonia production is a critical industrial process, and mild routes to recycle nitrates in wastewater could be promising route ammonia synthesis. In this study, demonstrated microbial electrosynthesis system with nitrate an electrode as electron acceptors donors, respectively. Based on the bidirectional extracellular transfer capability of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1, our electrosynthetic achieves maximum rate 24.3 μg h−1·mg protein−1 82.5% selectivity 33.1% cathodic efficiency functions for several cycles over 30 days. Electrochemical analysis suggests that cytochromes c, flavins, flavin/c-cytochrome combination play pivotal role. Charge resistance weakens course weeks, resulting easier transfer. Parallel reaction monitoring proteomics suggest reversing typical "Mtr pathway" plays role, dissimilatory pathway used. This work proposes progressive carry out synthesis under conditions.
