Abstract Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emissions are a factor in number of environmental issues. To reduce the associated negative consequences, it is crucial to develop efficient VOCs removal systems. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) co‐catalytic technology has become popular research topic this field as result its ability activation energy reaction while simultaneously improving product selectivity. Despite huge studies synthesising use metals and their oxide catalysts degradation VOCs, metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) MOF derivatives subject comparatively few area. This paper reviews basic principles technological progress NTP degradation, with focus on MOFs well other non‐metallic carbon materials degradation. It highlights potential future development direction catalytic synergistic treatment by focusing optimization synergism impact. In end, challenges faced, prospects, our personal perspective directions also estimated elucidated.

Cerium-modified Cu/ZSM-5 catalysts were employed for the selective catalytic combustion of acetonitrile. It was obtained that cerium addition effectively improved mineralization rate acetonitrile and nitrogen selectivity as well. The optimal Cu5Ce8/ZSM-5 sample exhibited 100% higher than 95% within 325–500 °C. strong interaction between Cu Ce species induced in a core–shell-like structure Cu–Ce/ZSM-5 samples, where core wrapped with Cu–Ce mixed oxide layer. external oxides enhanced reducibility increased active oxygen species. In situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy density functional theory simulations revealed surface strengthened hydrolysis reaction path ceria could promote dissociation water cyano groups, thereby generating sufficient amount NHx As result, NOx from overoxidation would be eliminated through internal reduction over core.
