Lignin is a widely available second-generation biopolymer and the main potential source of renewable aromatic building blocks. Phenolation is one of the effective strategies to synthesize lignin-based polyphenols, improve lignin's properties, and extend its value-added applications in biological, medicinal cosmetic fields. Herein, by taking structural feature advantage lignin, an green strategy was developed molecularly engineer lignin into a robust lignin-3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)propionate ester (LPPE) derivative via transesterification reaction between 3,4-dihydrocoumarin (DHC) aliphatic hydroxyls under organocatalysis. The optimized novel systematically characterized 1H, 13C 31P nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. findings indicated that successful introduction 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)propionate groups using OH groups/DHC/organic base molar ratio 1꞉1꞉0.3 at 120 °C for 6 h increased content phenolic hydroxyl from 1.793 1 3.017 9 mmol/g, LPPE exhibited excellent ultraviolet-absorbing antioxidant performance with up 90 % free radical scavenging activity within 20 min 5 mg/mL LPPE. In addition, good biocompatibility high Sun protection factor (SPF) value 40.9 were achieved (w) dosage cream, indicating significant application potential sunscreen.

Heavy metals pose a significant threat to human health and ecological security due their high toxicity, mobility, persistence in the environment. Herein, synthesis of novel cellulose nanofiber-based aerogel using non-toxic biopolymers such as sodium alginate polyglutamic acid eradicate lead, zinc, copper from water. The physical characterisation adsorption performance aerogels were evaluated monolithic bead configurations. study revealed superior for beads compared configuration. achieved maximum capacity 171.7 mg/g, 100 mg/g 142.0 respectively. exhibited specific surface area aerogels. presence functional groups including carboxyl, amino hydroxyl on likely facilitated through coordinate bond formation electrostatic interactions. Density Functional Theory calculations supported role oxygen nitrogen containing capturing heavy metal ions. displayed remarkable regeneration ability reused 20 times without any reduction indicating its potential sustainable adsorbent removal
