Biomass-derived carbon materials (BDCs) are highly regarded for their renewability, environmental friendliness, and broad potential application. ABSTRACT The increasing demand for sustainable fuels has driven extensive research into biodiesel production, which typically relies on the use of active catalysts to facilitate transesterification oils. While homogeneous are commonly employed, they pose challenges in terms recyclability and environmental impact, leading growing interest heterogeneous catalysts. Among these, metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have gained attention due their high surface area tuneable properties. This study investigates performance a copper benzene‐ 1 , 3 5 ‐tricarboxylate (CuBTC) MOF as an effective catalyst production. CuBTC was synthesised via solvothermal method thoroughly characterised using scanning electron microscopy examine morphology, powder X‐ray diffraction determine crystalline structure, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy identify functional groups. octahedral morphology successfully catalysed production with unsaturated fatty acids within C 16 18 range, achieving yield 78.6% wt.% 10:1 methanol‐to‐oil molar ratio. iodine value produced 59.3 g I/g, higher heating 39.2 MJ/kg. The environmental impact of traditional fuels and related greenhouse gas emissions (GHGE) has promoted policies driven towards renewable fuels. This review deals with green diesel, a biofuel obtained by catalytic deoxygenation edible non-edible biomasses. Green biodiesel, petrodiesel are compared, diesel being the best option in terms physical–chemical properties reduction GHGE. process types catalysts, feedstocks, operating conditions presented. Reactor configurations also discussed, summarizing experimental studies. Several simulations economic analyses—up to larger scales—are gathered from literature that analyze potential as substitute for petrodiesel. In addition, current industrial processes production introduced. Future research development efforts should concern catalysts use waste biomasses feedstock, well arrangement national international policies.
