Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) currently have the dominant market share in rechargeable batteries, a key technology reducing greenhouse gas emissions. However, concerns regarding environmental impacts of manufacturing and requirements for critical resources result need developing alternative battery technologies as well improving LIBs. This study assessed supply risks associated with three post-LIBs, namely two sodium-ion (NMMT NTO) one potassium-ion (KFSF), LIBs (NMC, LFP, LTO) using life cycle assessment criticality assessment. Post-LIBs showed comparable performances lower compared The hotspots were NiSO4 production cathode NMMT NMC, TiO2 anode NTO LTO. KFSF had no significant impacts, achieving best performance. higher than other mainly attributed to Li Co used electrode constituents.
