Upcycling industrial solid waste, such as coal gasification slag and fly ash, to functional adsorbents with unique structures for water decontamination is of great importance achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6.0. This study used ash synthesise mesoporous activated carbon @zeolite socony mobil-5 (MAC@ZSM-5) composite. Various analytical techniques were investigate the surface, morphological, structural properties MAC@ZSM-5 The composite had a relatively high specific surface was classified adsorbent. an adsorbent in ultrasound-assisted micro phase extraction (UA-µSPE) effective preconcentration removal aspirin (ASP), ibuprofen (IBP), paracetamol (PCT) from samples before determination by high-performance liquid chromatography equipped photodiode array detector (HPLC-DAD). Langmuir adsorption isotherm characterised adsorptive method, while kinetics followed pseudo-second order type. Thermodynamic studies revealed that process endothermic, spontaneous, chemisorption. Additionally, UA-µSPE/HPLC-DAD method displayed good linear range 0.1–1000 µg/L, coefficient greater than 0.99. developed performance, shown low limits detection (LODs: 0.017–0.064 µg/L) quantification (LOQs: 0.057–0.21 well precision (relative standard deviation (%RSD) < 5 %). proposed applied successfully target analytes real samples. reusable (up cycles) proved promising extraction, preconcentration, emerging contaminants bodies.

The structural modulation of pristine graphitic carbon nitride poses a considerable challenge in the rational design catalysts for efficient degradation small organic pollutants under visible light. In this study, we combined first-principles calculations and structure-function relationship to predict high-performance catalyst. results reveal that CN-8 demonstrates remarkable degree electron-hole separation. Notably, shows exceptional efficiency towards rhodamine B, tetracycline, bisphenol A, fluralaner light irradiation. Specifically, rate constants are 11, 4, 12, 32 times higher, respectively, compared bulk g-C3N4. Through density functional theory investigations relationship, it is confirmed superior catalytic activity lies modifying amino position, which alters electron cloud distribution promotes separation photo-generated pairs. This study provides valuable insights development eco-friendly photocatalysts environmental remediation.

This review highlights recent advances in the development of electrochemical sensors and biosensors for detecting pharmaceutical contaminants water samples, including surface water, wastewater, bottled water. The electrode modification materials—such as nanomaterials, conductive polymers, eco-friendly nanocomposites—have shown notable improvements sensor sensitivity selectivity, enabling detection various compounds, diclofenac, ibuprofen, antibiotics, hormones. Future research directions suggest use nanocomposites, multiplexed platforms simultaneous contaminant detection, integration into portable devices situ monitoring. Additionally, integrating with specific biomolecules IoT technology can expand their applicability, continuous efficient quality monitoring, thus supporting public health environmental protection.
