Purpose Advances in information technology and the increasing digitalization of general public have favored growth sharing economy. The economy is based on transactions idle resources between individuals to satisfy cogent needs. Notwithstanding great interest this emerging phenomenon, it still not clear which factors are driving shift consumer consumption behavior from traditional toward new economic model. Grounded self-determination theory, we contend that what needed a holistic approach considers three elements involved transactions, namely (1) motivations, (2) web-based platforms (3) types assets exchanged. Design/methodology/approach To conduct our study, used Flash Eurobarometer 467 database titled “The Use Collaborative Economy,” collected by European Union with datasets openly available public. Consequently, study aims provide results large-scale quantitative analysis involving large number multiple sectors. ABSTRACT The sharing economy has emerged as a transformative model in the digital age. However, existing reviews often focus on isolated aspects and provide limited insights into its complexity. This paper comprehensively 92 studies through dual‐framework approach, employing both Antecedents–Decisions–Outcomes (ADO) Theories–Contexts–Methods (TCM) frameworks. ADO framework reveals key factors influencing user decisions—including adoption, usage, booking, continued use, engagement, participation, purchase, switching—that are shaped by economic, social, technological, trust‐related, environmental, political antecedents. Meanwhile, TCM structures an in‐depth examination of dominant theories (e.g., Technology Acceptance Model, Social Exchange Theory), diverse contexts China, US), methods quantitative qualitative) prevalent literature. Key findings emphasize importance regulatory dynamics market shifts engagement platform sustainability. Practical implications offer actionable guidance for managers to enhance retention align strategies with evolving environments. review also identifies future research directions expand our understanding global trends challenges within economy.

Abstract In the data economy, sovereignty is often conceptualized as providers’ ability to control their shared data. While essential, current literature overlooks how this facet interrelates with other facets and contextual conditions. Drawing from social contract theory insights 31 expert interviews, we propose a conceptual framework encompassing protection, participation, provision facets. The protection establish sharing foundations by emphasizing baseline rights, such ownership . Building on foundation, participation facet, through responsibility divisions , steers Provision comprises security compliance mechanisms thus ensuring that foundational rights are preserved during after sharing. Contextual conditions (data type, organizational size, business setting) determine level of difficulty in realizing For instance, if personal shared, privacy becomes relevant leading challenges between providers subjects, demands, enforcement. Our novel conceptualization paves way for coherent comprehensive development concerning complex, multi-faceted construct.

The sharing economy substitutes owning with accessing, promoting sustainable development by reducing excessive consumption and resource overuse, which harm the environment. Sharing reduces energy use, lowering emissions waste disposal costs, thus environmental damage. This study identifies key factors that encourage Generation Z to embrace for goods services, emphasizing its role in development. Conducted May 2023, surveyed 442 Polish individuals examine their attitudes behaviours regarding climate change. research focused on this demographic due crucial addressing global issues. Data was collected using CAWI method analyzed IBM SPSS AMOS software through structural equation modelling (SEM). analysis revealed three factors: Willingness Share Savings (WSS), Digital Customer Engagement (DCE), Environmental Concern (EC). results show ecological concerns digital engagement significantly influence people’s willingness share, boosting awareness cost-saving behaviours. Z’s propensity consciousness are shaped engagement.

From the perspective of female passengers, much remains unknown about institutional or platform trust and sharing economy. The present study was conducted in an emerging economy context to comprehend significance trust. aimed develop a dynamic theoretical model incorporating perceived effectiveness platform-based structures (PEPIS) as dependent variable platforms, examine antecedents PEPIS determine how affects passengers' institution platform. Different strata passengers were targeted using quota-cum-purposive sampling method. In total, 413 useable responses pre-tested survey questionnaire collected. Our findings contribute literature on by demonstrating that four market-driven mechanisms directly significantly influence PEPIS: feedback mechanism, escrow services, provider certification urgent rescue; is related (TRST); relationships between TRST study's outcome variables (subjective well-being, intention recommend, continuous usage intention) also tested found significant. It promotes users' intention, recommend subjective well-being.

ABSTRACT Access‐based consumption, such as car sharing or ride‐hailing, is often promoted a more sustainable alternative to ownership‐based models, combining both society‐related (e.g., sustainability) and self‐related cost savings) benefits. However, this promise of sustainability can backfire when consumers substitute lower‐emission alternatives—such biking public transportation—with access‐based services, phenomenon we define overconsumption. Across two laboratory experiments ( n = 351; 388) field study 167) in different mobility contexts, demonstrate that communication strategies activating benefits—although effective increasing participation—can unintentionally foster In contrast, benefits alone significantly curbs effect. We identify self‐enhancement the central underlying mechanism driving these effects dual role. While increases participation overconsumption, its impact contingent on consumers’ environmental identity. Specifically, promotes among individuals with higher identity but encourages overconsumption those lower Our findings offer actionable insights for marketers, policymakers, nonprofits by outlining maximize engagement while minimizing harm promotion consumption.
