Introduction The design of the maize metering device involves centrifugal variable diameter pneumatic and cleaning mechanisms, aiming to enhance performance power efficiency devices. Leveraging impact changes in guidance positioning airflow, we optimize hole insert, seeding plate, seed limit board, integrated front shell. This optimization facilitates adjustment both quantity posture filling. As a result, seeds can form uniform flow within annular cavity, reducing wind pressure necessary for regular operation decreasing consumption. Methods A quadratic regression orthogonal rotation combination experiment is conducted using self-made bench, considering ground speed, pressure, rate as factors. Furthermore, comparative involving novel variable-diameter type device. Results results indicate optimal when speed 13.2 km/h, 1.2 kPa, feeding 25 seeds/s. Under these conditions, quality feed index reaches 95.20%, multi-index 3.87%, miss 0.93%. Findings reveal that developed achieved exceeding 93.00% across varying speeds 12~18 aligning with production requirements. In response to the poor cleaning effect of brush-type soybean seeder, a lightweight mechanism seeder was optimized and designed. We proposed progressive seed-cleaning method.
