The spaces in between: an actor network analysis of alternative food systems in Latin America and the Caribbean

For
years,
researchers
and
activists
have
claimed
that
alternative
food
systems
are
required
to
increase
the
resilience
of
low-income
families
in
Global
South
overcome
negative
effects
capitalist,
agro-industry
regimes.
Urban
peri-urban
agriculture
forms
local
production
distribution
urban
settings
often
seen
as
promising
strategies.
Yet
very
little
is
still
known
about
how
initiatives
emerge,
legitimized,
(sometimes)
survive
contexts
informality.
Here
we
use
Michel
Callon’s
conceptual
tools
reveal
networks
justified
operate
settlements
where
informal
construction
economic
activities
abound.
We
conducted
340
interviews
312
questionnaires
followed
18
bottom-up
related
production,
distribution,
transformation
consumption
cities
spaces
Colombia,
Cuba,
Ecuador,
Chile.
Empirical
results
show
how,
seeking
stabilize
systems,
leaders
create
design
outcomes
social
struggles,
identities,
reified
notions
time
space
key.
From
a
practical
perspective,
these
inadequacy
regulations
policy
grasp
dynamic
resistance
occurring
“in
between”
both
identities
structure.
Changes

ABSTRACT
Blockchain
provides
a
new
opportunity
to
govern
the
dilemmas
in
knowledge
payment
product
supply
chain.
This
paper
introduces
blockchain
into
evolutionary
game
explore
behavioral
strategies
of
providers,
platforms,
and
consumers
analyze
depth
influence
initial
willingness
blockchain‐related
factors
by
system
dynamics.

analysis
shows
that
(1)
improving
tripartite
is
conducive
accelerating
process
chain
governance
making
reach
an
ideal
state:
providers
choose
compliance

platforms
adopt
blockchain,
buy
authorized
product;
(2)
there
are
specific
thresholds
for
adoption
cost
premium
brought
only
when
lower
than
thresholds,
