Abstract Land distribution is intricately linked to economic quality and sustainable growth, influenced by administrative division adjustment (ADA), which can be categorized into various forms, with the township–town merge (TTM) reform being most common. This study evaluates effect of TTM on local governments’ dependence polluting industries from a fiscal decentralization angle, using differences-in-differences model transaction data China’s land market. Findings reveal that increases industries, especially in districts/counties weaker conditions before COVID-19 pandemic. Evidence also highlights notable boundary TTM, though its impact minimal at provincial borders due their potentially lower public investment inclination. level districts/counties, thus explaining increase government’s industries. The empirical results have confirmed such mechanism. Abstract This study investigates the impact of Chinese local governments' environmental governance on managerial engagement in green initiatives. We hypothesize that commitment to protection positively affects firms' adoption performance indicators compensation, which turn drives eco-friendly behavior. Utilizing data from A-share manufacturing companies 2008 2022, we find higher government investment is associated with greater incorporation metrics into assessments, leading reduced corporate pollutant emissions. The effect more pronounced for state-owned enterprises and firms less marketized regions. Despite the significant impacts of biomass burning (BB) on global climate change and regional air pollution, there is a relative lack research temporal trends geographic patterns BB in Northeast China (NEC). This study investigates spatial–temporal distribution its impact atmospheric environment NEC region during 2004 to 2023 based remote sensing satellite data reanalyzed data, using Siegel’s Repeated Median Estimator Mann–Kendall test for trend analysis, HDBSCAN identify regions, Moran’s Index examine spatial autocorrelation BB. The obtained results indicate fluctuating yet overall increasing trend, characterized by annual increases 759 fire point counts (FPC) 12,000 MW radiated power (FRP). predominantly occurs Songnen Plain (SNP), Sanjiang (SJP), Liaohe (LHP), transitional area between SNP adjacent Greater Khingan Mountains (GKM) Lesser (LKM). Cropland urban areas exhibit highest growth trends, each surpassing 60% (p < 0.05), with most cluster spanning 68,634.9 km2. Seasonal analysis shows that peaks spring autumn, experiencing severity. critical periods are March–April October–November, which FPC FRP contribute over 80% total. correlates planting autumn harvesting, where cropland constitutes 71% all land-cover types involved Comparative aerosol extinction coefficient (AEC) decreasing indicates higher AEC especially spring, vertical transport reaching up 1.5 km. County-level high–high clustering SJP, notable resurgence SNP, suggesting need coordinated provincial prevention control efforts.
