Abstract
This
study
investigates
the
impact
of
Chinese
local
governments'
environmental
governance
on
managerial
engagement
in
green
initiatives.
We
hypothesize
that
commitment
to
protection
positively
affects
firms'
adoption
performance
indicators
compensation,
which
turn
drives
eco-friendly
behavior.
Utilizing
data
from
A-share
manufacturing
companies
2008
2022,
we
find
higher
government
investment
is
associated
with
greater
incorporation
metrics
into
assessments,
leading
reduced
corporate
pollutant
emissions.
The
effect
more
pronounced
for
state-owned
enterprises
and
firms
less
marketized
regions.
Our
findings
underscore
crucial
role
governments
shaping
strategies
by
influencing
internal
management
practices.

Despite
the
significant
impacts

biomass
burning
(BB)
on
global
climate
change
and
regional
air
pollution,

Abstract
Land
distribution
is
intricately
linked
to
economic
quality
and
sustainable
growth,
influenced
by
administrative
division
adjustment
(ADA),
which
can
be
categorized
into
various
forms,
with
the
township–town
merge
(TTM)
reform
being
most
common.
This
study
evaluates
effect
of
TTM
on
local
governments’
dependence
polluting
industries
from
a
fiscal
decentralization
angle,
using
differences-in-differences
model
transaction
data
China’s
land
market.
Findings
reveal
that
increases
industries,
especially
in
districts/counties
weaker
conditions
before
COVID-19
pandemic.

notable

though
its

at

borders
