Emulsified asphalt reduces energy consumption and the emission of harmful pollutants in comparison with other types road construction asphalts. The structure lipophilic groups within emulsifiers plays a pivotal role to uniformly disperse particles water regarding storage thermal stability emulsified asphalt. However, it is hard quantify mechanism induced dispersion water. Thus, This study combines laboratory experiments molecular dynamics simulations, investigating influence alkyl chain length on behavior at oil/water interface. Laboratory encompass tests for penetration, softening points, ductility, stability, particle size, stability. Additionally, developed models interface are utilized assess microdispersity results reveal that long-chain (C16TAC C18TAC) present lipophilicity-enhancement effect. phenomenon increases free volume fraction asphalt, reducing viscosity improving compatibility emulsion. smaller sizes (D50=1.982μm) more uniform dispersion. Vigorously promotes emulsifier migration towards phase, thickening interfacial layer tension by than 90%. Notely, establish strong hydrogen bonds molecules, leading molecule aggregation into hydration layer. experimental demonstrate this effect significantly improves evaporation residue demonstrates superior performance, relatively high points. research recommends developing designing energy-efficient pavement engineering high-performance
