ABSTRACT This study employed solid waste red mud (RM) as the primary material, which underwent dopamine self‐polymerization and esterification reactions to synthesize biomimetic composite materials based on Siberian cocklebur with high surface area (GA‐CDA‐RM). Experimental data indicate that GA‐CDA‐RM enhances high‐temperature rheological properties, rutting resistance, low‐temperature crack resistance of asphalt binder while reducing leaching heavy metal ions in RM. Leaching concentrations six metals decreased 10 μg/L, significant reductions four additional ions. At 46°C, binders modified a 4% mass fraction demonstrated substantial improvements: modulus ( G *) increased by 94.55% compared styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) (MA), both storage ′) loss ″) 96.99% 93.88%, respectively. 64°C 0.1 kPa, deformation recovery rate R ) GA‐CDA‐RM@MA improved 50.88% MA, at −12°C, m ‐value 14.8%. introduces novel approach for environmentally sound treatment reuse RM, providing guidance theoretical framework its recycling endeavors. Abstract The coordinated recovery of iron and aluminum from red mud for preparing inorganic polymeric flocculants constitutes a critical pathway to enhance mud's resource utilization value, yet the inhibition mechanism Na+ Si impurities generated during acid leaching process on flocculation performance remains unclear. This study therefore elucidates impurity-mediated regulation Poly Aluminum Ferric Sulfate (PAFS) structure-performance relationships through comparative synthesis pure reagent systems (PAFS-C) leachate (PAFS-J).
