Coal gangue, as a byproduct of coal mining and washing, has experienced significant surge in production due to escalating energy demands. The extensive accumulation gangue resulted challenges, including resource wastage severe environmental contamination. To better understanding the current research landscape, hotspots, emerging trends comprehensive utilization we employed CiteSpace bibliometric software visually analyze 200 articles published Web Science Core Collection from 2004 2023. majority these publications (85%) were between 2019 2023, with most originating China. This study used cooperative network analysis examine synthesize contributions different institutions scholars on examining gangue. By employing advanced techniques such keyword co-occurrence cluster analysis, our delves into dynamic hotspots this field over time periods. Through trend situation analyses, future directions for are proposed, aim inspiring relevant guiding policy formulation.

The recycling of coal gangue has considerable potential to produce secondary environmental hazards, which significantly influence the high-end application in practical engineering. present study investigates effects activation treatment on physical, chemical properties and leaching behavior gangue. mineral composition, micro-pore structure element were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Thermogravimetry Analysis (TG), Low-Temperature Nitrogen Adsorption (LTNA) Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP). results indicate that kaolinite pyrite experienced reconstruction after 600 °C during thermal activation. density thermally activated is increased with calcination temperature as well alkalinity (from 4.8–7.1) due burning organic oxidation pyrite. induced reduction macropore volume (>50 nm), enhancement mesopore (<5 nm) volume. Leachable Ni, Cd, Mn, Cu, Zn Pd decreased 99%, 67%, 86%, 40%, 99% 93% at 800 °C, respectively. Si Al calcined exhibited a high ability solution; leachable reached 106.4 mg/kg, while 86.1 mg/kg 48 h dynamic leaching.

Three coal-based solid wastes—fly ash (FA), gasification slag (GS), and coal gangue (CG)—were used to prepare functional soil (FGC) for the ecological restoration of mining areas. It not only solves problem shortage resources in area, but also realizes resourceful use waste. Investigating physicochemical properties oatgrass growth characteristics revealed optimal ratios. Compared with control (CK) at 30 d, average pH FGC3 (FA: 50wt%; GS: 25wt%; CG: 25wt%) decreased from 9.54 8.54, organic matter content increased 2.57% 7.60%, available potassium ammonium nitrogen 38.02 2.83 mg⋅kg −1 53.46 3.21 , respectively. Functional bulk density porosity were superior Sandy somewhere Ningxia (SL) GS CG contents &lt;25wt%. significantly improved agronomic traits. The presence of pyrite in coal gangue significantly degrades the performance its prepared kaolin ceramic and coating applications.
