Unraveling the Estimation Bias of Carbon Emission Efficiency in China’s Power Industry by Carbon Transfer from Inter-Provincial Power Transmission

Current
evaluations
of
carbon
emission
efficiency
in
China’s
provincial
power
industry
often
neglect
the
impact
transfers
from
inter-regional
transmission,
leading
to
biased
assessments
that
hinder
sustainable
development
energy
transition.
To
address
this,
we
propose
an
advanced
evaluation
model
incorporates
a
multi-regional
input–output
(MRIO)
framework,
refining
CO2
calculations
and
correcting
parameter
deviations
slack-based
measure
(SBM)
model.
This
improves
both
precision
fairness
assessments.
We
apply
MRIO-SBM
evaluate
across
30
provinces
China
for
2012,
2015,
2017,
revealing
on
efficiency.
The
results
indicate
incorporating
MRIO
SBM
evaluations.
Significant
regional
disparities
are
observed:
eastern
coastal
regions
achieve
higher
efficiencies,
while
northeastern
western
typically
exhibit
lower
values,
ranging
0.5
0.7.
Efficiency
must
account
transfer
dynamics,
as
these
can
lead
overestimations
by
up
19%
electricity-importing
underestimations
approximately
10%
electricity-exporting
regions.
Furthermore,
findings
emphasize
need
foster
low-carbon
cross-regional
collaboration
promote
industry.

Purpose
The
purpose
of
this
paper
is
to
explore
carbon
emission
reduction
electric
vehicles
from
the
perspective
electricity
consumption.
Design/methodology/approach
Electric
(EVs)
consume
large
amounts
electricity,
thereby
generating
dioxide
(CO2)
emissions,
so

urgent
need

whether
EVs
have

for
reducing
emissions
