Hydrogen internal combustion engines (ICEs) have gained significant attention as a promising solution for achieving zero-carbon emissions in the transportation sector. This study investigates conversion of 2 L Diesel ICE into lean hydrogen-powered ICE, focusing on key challenges such hydrogen mixing, pre-ignition, flame development, and NOx emissions. The novelty this research lies specific modifications made to optimize engine performance reduce while utilizing existing infrastructure. identifies several important design changes successful hydrogen, including following: Intake port design: transitioning from swirl tumble enhance mixing; Injection spark plug configuration: using lateral injection system combined with central improve combustion; Piston employing lenticular piston shape adaptable depth Mitigating Coanda effect: preventing issues at deflectors or caps; Head maintaining flat head efficient ensuring adequate cooling avoid pre-ignition.
