Red mud is a highly alkaline residue generated during the alumina extraction process, and its strong alkalinity significantly hinders extensive comprehensive utilization. The alkali in red mainly exists two forms, namely, soluble insoluble chemically bound alkali. This study aims to provide overview of dealkalization process progress for mud, encompassing acid neutralization technology, salt (ion) precipitation or displacement metallurgical technology. mechanisms, advantages, disadvantages associated with each technology are discussed. To enhance readability readers, mind maps included method mud. Based on above analysis, it advisable choose most suitable considering specific properties subsequent application strategy. Recommendations regarding future research proposed.
